'VSTAR' Trademark Filed!

January 22th? There is no set on December? Its gonna be like 3 months then since the last true set... hate when they dont release sets every month

Imagine they give us Zacian vmax. Max Blade 4 metal energy does 370 damage and negates all effects on the defending pokemon with the stipulation that it can't attack next turn. They give 340 hp because why not.;)

Almost sounds like a type of credit card or rewards program at a casino.

Would be cool if they brought back a revamped Legend mechanic.

Last time they had something with "Star" in it, back at the end of '17/early 18 with Prism Stars being announced, I thought we'd be getting a spiritual successor to the Gold Star cards. But... I don't know if that applies here, given the "V" in the name. I really couldn't tell you even what I think this could be.

Does anybody remember Spectrier? Uh, hello, Spectrier is a jet-black spirit. So jet-black spirit will be the set to contain Spectrier V, obviously.

Don't know why I read "failed" instead of "filed" and was looking for the reason in the article! Lol

I guess following the pattern of Gen 3's Pokemon Star and Gen 7's Prism Star, this will be some kind of mechanic that is limited in the deckbuilding stage.

But I could also see it being LEGEND 2.0 and the mechanic for how they handle the Calyrex fusions.

Maybe they'll be like the prism stars and acespecs where you can only have one of them in your deck. At least I hope so because I really like the idea of powerful cards you can only run in your deck as one of cards.

After reading that, the first thing that came to mind for me was that they could do a mechanic similar to palace format where they could print very strong cards worth 1-4 stars and there can only be a max of 4 stars in a deck.

Haha, I totally called that Jet Black and Silver Lance would be the Calyrex horse sets since we first heard about these names! The only question is "matchless fighter." Gigantamax Machamp? Marshadow? I am stumped. (Edit: wow, it's Urshifu. Duh. Why didn't I think of that x))

Also regarding the mechanics of the Calyrex fusions, sure I could see them doing a LEGEND thing again. But honestly I think the greater probability is they'll just make them straight up Calyrex cards with no special mechanic, a la Black Kyurem and White Kyurem.

True but neither can eternatus and that got a VMAX and the only way to see it’s eternamax form is to use eternabeam
This is fair. It's close enough though that they could implement it as a VMax. But at least Eternatus has some kind of big alternate form to go into at some point in the story.

Alrighty boys, people don't like big basics, so let's give the big basics even more upgrades.
