Mega Dragonite and New “Legends: Z-A” Characters and Features Revealed!

Mega Dragonite was revealed during today's Pokemon Presents as the first new Mega Evolution of Legends: Z-A! It inherits some of its features from Dragonair and remains a Dragon/Flying type.

During the day, Trainers can explore Lumiose City and find Pokemon in wild zones, where they may encounter strong alpha Pokemon. These Pokemon are larger than their regular counterparts, have glowing red eyes, and are powerful and difficult to catch. They will chase and attack you once they notice you.

At night, players can also compete in the Z-A Royale and aim to climb the ranks, with battles against even more powerful Trainers awaiting as the player advances. One of those Trainers the player will face in a promotion match is Corbeau, the boss of an organization operating in Lumiose City called the Rust Syndicate.

Other Trainers include Emma, a detective who asks the player to track down missing Pokemon, locate missing items, and occasionally take part in Pokemon battles.

Trainers can also assist Mable, the acting director of the Pokemon Research Lab, who analyses Pokemon habits and the reasons behind their growing populations. In return, players can receive TMs and other rewards for their help.

Upon arriving in Lumiose City, players will be invited by either Urbain or Taunie to join Team MZ, a crew dedicated to keeping Lumiose City a peaceful place. Team MZ also includes Naveen, an up-and-coming fashion designer partnered with Scraggy, and Lida, an aspiring professional dancer who battles alongside her partner Staryu.

A strange phenomenon is happening in Lumiose City - some wild Pokemon are Mega Evolving on their own and going on rampages. Quasartico Inc., the corporation driving Lumiose City’s redevelopment, will task the player and the rest of Team MZ to investigate these strange occurrences. Together, they will battle and calm a variety of Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokemon. Trainers who succeed will obtain Mega Stones as rewards.

You'll be able to customize your character's physical appearance and clothing.

Your Rotom Phone can take photos for you - even in wild zones or battle zones. While at benches, you can snap photos with up to six Pokemon from your team.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A will launch on October 16th for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

To be fair, this was probably the best look at Z-A we've gotten yet, and is probably the last we'll see, before release. This alone was worth watching the rest of the Direct for...but just barely.


...Also skirts are back. Figured I should mention that at least, since they haven't been something your Trainer could wear since SWSH, unless you count BDSP, which didn't have a really fleshed-out customization system. You could also BARELY make the argument that PLA had them too, but I think it was literally just part of the default Akari outfit...which itself looked pretty uggo, admittedly. xP
 
doesn't it drive you just a little nuts that mega dragonite looks kinda like a watered down version of all the speculative fanart people have done over the years

I can't tell if it's a good thing that so many artists were tuned in to the idea or a bad thing that it was so predictable.
 
So you are stuck in 1 city for the entire game. And Alpha Pokémon return.
Mega Metagross is better design for pseudo legendary Mega.

Can I cancel and get a refund for my pre order?
 
Pokémon fans try to be happy challenge difficulty impossible, I like dragonite as a Pokémon but more gen 1 Pokémon getting megas is kinda... Eh, just let the region die already

The trainer’s name seems like a reference to cobra /arbok as well and he has the mega stone on his lapel, so I think ur right, it seems like his signature pokemon instead of just a random one on his team to me :) I hope so too! Hope fully a poison/dark king kobra mega
 
The dragonite looks so stupid. They shrunk down his normal wings to barely visable and threw a milk fountain on top of his head???
