Mewtwo, Ditto, and Snorlax from “Pokemon Card 151!”

Ditto, Snorlax, and Mewtwo have been revealed on ads for Pokemon Card 151 at Japan’s Pokemon Centers! The set will release in Japan on June 16th. We expect to it release internationally as a special set this fall.

Thanks goes to Bangiras and JustInBasil for the translations!

Ditto – Colorless – HP60
Basic Pokemon

Ability: Transforming Start
This Ability can only be used if this Pokemon is in the Active Spot, and only on your first turn. Search your deck for a Basic Pokemon, except any Ditto. If you do, discard this Pokemon and all attached cards, and put that Pokemon in its place. Then, shuffle your deck.

[C] Goo: 10 damage.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Snorlax – Colorless – HP150
Basic Pokemon

Ability: Gluttony
Once during your turn, you may put up to 2 Leftovers card from your discard pile into your hand.

[C][C][C] Thwomp Press: 130 damage. This Pokemon does 30 damage to itself.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 4

Mewtwo – Psychic – HP130
Basic Pokemon

[C][C] Reflector Barrier: 20 damage. During your opponent’s next turn, if this Pokemon takes any damage from attacks, put the same number of damage counters on the Attacking Pokemon.

[P][P][C] Psystrike: 130 damage. Discard 2 Energy from this Pokemon.

Weakness: Darkness (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-30)
Retreat: 2

The strength of Ditto lays in the fact that getting it as your starting Pokemon is essentially the same as getting to choose your starter as you please. That is slightly better than a Nest Ball and gives your deck a bit better odds for getting the best starter. Maybe some decks can afford the space to run it.

Really like these new card effects, Ditto is a nice new effect, and it has some potential in both standard and GLC, also its niche but as a cube this card is AMAZING.

Snorlax is the weakest of the 3 but at least the art is wonderful.

Mewtwo has great art and a cool attack, in standard this seems we bit unreliable, though you can power it up with gardi/DTE, unfortunately Sableye eats this up. GLC this card can be combined with garb and the format has more straight damage and less gusting so something to try their.

Ditto is a super worst VIP Pass, to guaranteed start with it you have to run 4 and even then is not guaranteed and become completele useless after turn one, use a nest ball on it would be a waster cause you could just get directly the basic you were searching for...

Mewtwo could see competitive succes if we would get back a deck like hisuian zoroark Vstar that only has 1 attack and no other option and that attack can OHKO the attacking pokemon. Very niche. - 1.5/5

Snorlax is fun but restricted by the fact that several Leftovers can’t stack. Being a bench sitter with 4 RC is never good. Could have some potential in some tool drop kind of deck. - 3/5

Ditto could actually become an inzane staple card. Makes starting with a ”call for family attack or ability kind of pokemon” have greater odds and makes decks more consistent. Could see LZB play 4 of these over nest ball. Allows to evolve in Vstars out of no where. It is awesome. 5/5

As a person who plays LB, This is card is POG!!! Especially if you get a crap hand that only lets you have 1 comfey or worse. NONE!!! Battle VIP kinda solves the issue but then you still have to get it in the active spot. This is a great card for LB and I will be running 4 of it when it comes out

The fact that Ditto has to be in the Active Spot absolutely kills its usefulness. It's a real shame.

In some decks you can make the case for ditto replacing VIP pass

If you don't need 2 pokemon bc you play a smaller bench line. Ditto is searchable with a nest ball where VIP is not
You still need to retreat in order to transform, though. Maybe for something like Lost Box that runs a lot of switching cards and doesn't mind losing a turn of attachments to retreating, but I can't imagine wanting to make a play like this unless you absolutely needed to have something Active at the end of your turn... Diancie, maybe?

I'm not sure how Mewtwo works. Does it max out at 130 or would it do the full damage of the attack even if it was more than 130?

Full damage. There is no limit to the damage you can take, you just die if you ever have more damage on you than you do HP. So if Mewtwo gets hit by an attack that would kill him twice over, the attacker will take all of that damage, not just the damage required to kill Mewtwo.
