Images of Mega Sableye & Tyranitar-GX, Psyduck & Slowpoke-GX, Jirachi-GX, Weavile-GX! By: Water Pokémon Master Posted 2 years ago to TCG 28 comments We finally have images of CoroCoro magazine thanks to a staff member from Japan, confirming the card text for the Pokemon-GX we’ve been talking about for the past few days! These two Tag Team cards will debut in SM11 Miracle Twins on May 31st. The cards will become part of our Unified Minds set in August. Mega Sableye & Tyranitar-GX – Darkness – HP280 Basic Pokemon (TAG TEAM) [D][D][D][D][C] Greed Crash: 210 damage. If your opponent’s Active Pokemon is a Pokemon-GX or Pokemon-EX and is Knocked Out by damage from this attack, take 1 more Prize card. [D][D][D][D][C]+ Gigafall GX: 250 damage. If you have 5 additional Energy attached to this Pokemon (in addition to this attack’s cost), discard 15 cards from the top of your opponent’s deck. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.) When your TAG TEAM is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prize cards. Weakness: Fighting (x2) Resistance: Psychic (-2) Retreat: 4 Psyduck & Slowpoke-GX – Water – HP250 Basic Pokemon (TAG TEAM) [W][W] Tossing Splash: 40x damage. Discard any number of Supporter cards from your hand. This attack does 40 damage for each card discarded in this way. [W][W]+ Excitement Time GX: 10+ damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 100 more damage. If you have at least 6 extra Energy attached to this Pokemon (in addition to this attack’s cost), flip 10 coins instead, and do 100 more damage for each heads. When your TAG TEAM is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prize cards. Weakness: Grass (x2) Resistance: none Retreat: 2 Mega Sableye’s name is spelled out in full, so it’s not treated as a Mega Evolution Pokemon like the original mechanic from the XY era. This will be the first time we’ve seen a Mega Evolution in the TCG since 2016’s Evolutions. Slowpoke & Psyduck-GX will be the first Tag Team card that features two unevolved Pokemon. As posted before, Jirachi-GX and Weavile-GX will come from the Espeon & Deoxys and Umbreon & Darkrai Tag Team decks. They will also release in Japan on May 31st. Jirachi-GX – Psychic – HP160 Basic Pokemon Ability: Psychic Zone If a Pokemon with a [P] Weakness receives damage from an attack, don’t apply Weakness. [P] Star Search: Search your deck for an Energy card and attach it to 1 of your [P] Pokemon. Then, shuffle your deck. [P][P][P] Star Shield GX: 100 damage. Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokemon during your opponent’s next turn. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.) When your Pokemon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Weakness: Psychic (x2) Resistance: none Retreat: 1 Weavile-GX – Darkness – HP200 Stage 1 – Evolves from Sneasel Ability: Shadow Connection As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may move a basic [D] Energy from 1 of your Pokemon in play to another 1 of your Pokemon in play. [D][D][C] Claw Slash: 130 damage. [C] Night Order GX: Search your deck for any number of Basic Pokemon and put them on your Bench. Then, shuffle your deck. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.) When your Pokemon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Weakness: Fighting (x2) Resistance: Psychic (-20) Retreat: 1
WEA! WEA! WEA! WEA! WEA! WEA! WEAVILE!! In all honesty, I'm most excited for Weavile (see post on previous thread for details), and the fact the artwork is great makes the anticipation even sweeter.
I'm thinking of buying 250 Slowpoke/Psyduck cards and use them as wallpaper in my bedroom. Sweet dreams guaranteed from now on.
Does the term "Unevolved Pokémon" specifically refer to Pokémon who *can* evolve? Otherwise, Mew & MewTwo GX are both Basics, and depending on how you count babies, Pikachu&Zekrom and Eevee&Snorlax should qualify also.
It means Pokémon that can evolve but haven't. Psyduck and Slowpoke can both evolve, whereas Snorlax and Zekrom can't!
Okay, thanks! Bulbapedia doesn't exactly use it that way (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Evolution), though it is a somewhat confusingly written article and, of course, a wiki, hence my confusion!
Where should we be getting these from? (Especially Weavile) Is it our November set or is it a promo box
Art Review Mega Sableye and Tyranitar GX-- Good art, very epic. Definitely worth a collector's time. 5 stars Psypoke GX-- Cute. 3 stars Jirachi GX-- Cute, and it reminds me of some old art I saw for Jirachi Wishmaker. 4 stars Weavile GX- Meh, looks like some other art I've seen somewhere. I'm not really a fan. 3 stars
Oh shit brilliant debut for a Mega GX. Originally wanted Mega Sableye in XY10 but this is definitely worth the wait.
Sabletar I already said was clunky, Dumb & Dumber ... is dumb. So dumb that it thinks it's viable in expanded and discards supporter for VS seeker. (Not even enough damage) The GX attack is ridiculous, overkill is all. I'd rather Towering Splash. Mewmew's slave... I mean Jirachi GX is only to boost... Mewmew? Really TCPI? IDK I mean Buzz GX is rotataing so... The normal attack is your way of giving your opponent 2 free prizes. The GX attack is very unimpactful. Weavile GX on the other hand... That ability is BUSTED! Exactly what we need to power up sabletar. Nags and vile combo will also boost Zoroninja Gx. And Guzzlord GX if it wasn't rotating... lol Attack in lame though. The GX attack could be good if you brick though.
M Sableye & Tyranitar's GX attack on its own is ineffective, but also a strong win condition that your opponent MUST be aware of. Its normal attack is very VERY good. Umbreon EX saw a little bit of play, Guzzlord GX was interesting, but both of their attacks struggled because of their overall damage output. Buzzmosa GX saw heavy play in Japan for a month and its numbers worked out nicely due to its combination of two great attacks. Looking back in history, Plasma Lugia was extremely successful, and Rayquaza & Deoxys LEGEND saw play too. The prospect of taking three prizes on a Dedene, Lele, Koko, Blacephalon, UltraNecrozma, etc. is a threat. The prospect of taking FOUR prizes on a Pikarom with a choice band is a very nice perk. We have seen cards like this work in the past, and I believe Sabletar has similar potential. In expanded, in combination with Weavile GX and acceleration, I believe this card has the potential to be an incredibly strong deck. Can't wait to see!
Slowbrow and Psyduck could work well with Bannet GX. You spend the first few turns dealing tons of damage while discarding lots of supporters. Then in the late game, you hit 130 for 1 energy.
So far this year, they've brought back two older mechanics: Mega Pokémon and Baby Pokémon. However, neither of these have any special mechanic, which makes me a little bit mad. Hopefully they'll come up with some cool stuff for the Sword & Shield era. Also, can anyone make out the set numbers on M-Sableye & Tyranitar GX or Psyduck & Slowpoke GX?
