Charizard & Reshiram-GX from ‘Double Blaze’ Revealed!

As expected, CoroCoro has revealed Charizard & Reshiram-GX from SM10 Double Blaze. This is the first card revealed from the set.

Charizard & Reshiram-GX – Fire – HP270
Basic Pokemon (TAG TEAM)

[R][C] Outrage: 30+ damage. This attack does 10 more damage for each damage counter on this Pokemon.

[R][R][R][C] Flare Strike: 230 damage. This Pokemon can’t use Flare Strike during your next turn.

[R][R][R]+ Double Blaze GX: 200+ damage. If this Pokemon has at least 3 extra [R] Energy attached to it (in addition to this attack’s cost), this attack does 100 more damage and it’s not affected by any effects on your opponent’s Active Pokemon. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)

When your TAG TEAM is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 3 Prize cards.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

Our source does not have an image of the card yet and can’t confirm the text to be completely valid. We’ll update this post once we receive an image, so be sure to keep checking back. It will probably leak within the next 12 hours. Thanks goes to tunu for the translation!

Double Blaze will release in Japan on March 1st and will be the tenth main Sun & Moon set. It’ll feature 95 cards (excluding secret rares). The set will become part of our Unbroken Bonds set in May.

This card is REALLY bad. Like almost all Charizard cards, the attack cost is too much for it to be viable. Sure, Outrage is nice, but do I really want to use Outrage with a 3-prizer?

Kiawe leaving Ho-Oh GX for Reshiram/Charizard Tag Team GX. Kinda like that Meme of a guy walking with his girlfriend (Ho-Oh) and looking back liking the new Reshiram/Charizard.

    Its... okay? I guess?

Honestly its kind of tame compared to all the other Tag Teams we've seen up to this point.

OH NO. It’s sure to be another broken Charizard, this time on a Basic...
    Not?
Well, it does hit gigantic numbers with Mount Lanakila, Buff Padding, and Outrage. Zoroark hitting for 150? Congrats, we just OHKO’d them with Band. P&Z doing 180? 210 back. Blacephalon doing 300? 360 back at them.
The problem is, the cost is [R][C] and not [C][C]. It’s a decent attack.
Flare Strike is pretty mundane, but with Silvally-GX/Dawn Wings-GX, it can attack turn after turn for 260, more with Lurantis.
The GX attack is hilariously unoriginal, but 300 in a pinch isn’t the worst.

Overall, I’m glad we have a “contender” Charizard & Reshiram GX rather than a “game-breaking” Charizard & Reshiram GX.

It's just a lot of energy to commit in order to hit 300. The gx attack could be a lot more interesting. Will people just swap this card out for Ho-oh?

    • Charizard & Reshiram TTGX - having good basics for Chariram is nice especially Water decks are not as widely played. Maybe Kyurem from Unbroken Bonds with its infinite paralysis strat? Quagsire also? Nah! The first atk is a revenge atk. Because you have 270 HP, you can't KO easily so you can retaliate some damage there. The 2nd atk is spammable with Kiawe, come on! 230 KOs any regular GXs but with a Choice Band, Pikarom and Sylvoir goes down. The GX atk also KOs Magikwail in an instant. The problem is.. the energy accel is not enough. Kiawe ends your turn, Naganadel strat won't work because... Card Burning! You can easily pull Kiawe for the 2nd atk but the GX atk falls it short. 4 Geodudes

First attack is cute because of the bulkiness of TTGXes in general but other than that this is even worse than Latios&Latias TT.

People thought that Kiawe and Ho-oh would be busted back when Ho-oh was able to hit good numbers with CB and look how good that deck was...And we even had Volcanion-EX back then.

Playability wise it’ll just be a kiawe beatstick

Collectability wise collectors are already crossing their fingers that the hyper rare will not be insanity like charizard gx from burning shadows

FINALLY! Been waiting on this card for weeks. Was really hoping it would be better, but seems ok I guess and is definitely not the worst tag team we have seen. Honestly, not sure what it pairs best with but Flareon GX does seem like a decent option.

I was hoping for this card to be something crazy and exciting but it's literally just a bigger Ho-oh GX L O L

I expected nothing and was still disappointed.

all i can see is this being a bigger ho-oh GX but without a viable GX move this just makes me sad it just seems boring nothing cool like a awsome GX attack or a cool gimmick its just there its not a bad card its just boring. :(

This isn't a bad card. Usual Pokebeach pessimism. I remember when everybody here said Blacephelon-GX, Ultra Necrozma-GX, and even Zoroark-GX etc. were awful/ underwhelming. Not that I think this card is meta-breaking, but its not an awful card. The problem is that its just a fatter, better Ho-Oh GX and the problem with Ho-oh/Kiawe wasn't lack of damage or HP but lack of an engine that could keep the deck attacking every turn. This card doesn't add anything to that deck, so I don't expect it to change how good that deck is in the meta. But it isn't a terrible card, and there's nothing wrong with its attacks.

Even though I literally was just being pessimistic, I do agree with you. It's a fine card that will see play, even if just a rogueish kind of deck.
