Muscle Pad from SM9 Revealed!

A new Pokemon Tool from SM9 Tag Bolt has been revealed! The set will release in Japan in December. The set will then be combined into our Team Up set in February.

Muscle Pad – Trainer
Item

Pokemon Tool: Attach a Pokemon Tool to 1 of your Pokemon that doesn’t already have a Pokemon Tool attached to it.

If the Pokemon this card is attached to has a Retreat Cost of [C][C][C][C], its maximum HP is increased by 50.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

This means Eevee & Snorlax-GX will have 320 HP with Muscle Pad attached. :o

Thanks goes to gundambot for the translation!

Hope everyone's looking forward to playing against 270 HP Wailord and 240 HP Steelix in future Standard stall decks

Not to mention 300 HP Wailord-EX in Expanded...

Charizard is one of most people's favorite pokemon and mine me, so I'm really glad we got a somewhat playable Charizard in a very long time. Being able to do 130 (180 with energy attachment for turn and 210 with choice band) every turn as a non-GX attacker is really nice in this format. Plus stage 2 is easier to get out these days with the new Alolan Ninetales GX (fairy). Thanks TPCi!!! But where is Venusaur to complete the Kanto starter Trio :(

Format 1: Field blower is everywhere
Format 2: Can't get rid of PS stadiums with field blower, just play more stadiums
Format 3: Field blower makes a comeback

Will a "no retreat cost" ability/ stadium card counteract the negative effects of this card?

Yea they read the effect of the card wrong thinking it "makes the pokemons retreat 4" not that it has to have that cost for it to work. A common misread it seems

There was an ID in Latam internats where Celebi and Venusaur are there as pairs, so Venusaur will be TTGX with Celebi.

It is going to get to the point that you are going to have to run 4 counter stadiums and multiple blowers to deal with shrine/prism stadiums and tools. I hope you like playing against stall decks.

With this and potentially a lot of Choice Helmets, Fairy Charms for Fairy decks, and Spell Tag for Psychic decks, x2/3 Field Blowers will be an absolute must-have in almost all the decks. Get your Item strategies redefined again!
