Errata Announced for Electrode from ‘Evolutions’

Pokemon.com has announced that Electrode from Evolutions is receiving an errata. An errata is when a card’s text is printed incorrectly and TPCi issues new wording for it.

Electrode’s “Buzzap Thunder” Ability currently reads:

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may Knock Out this Pokémon and attach it to one of your Lightning-type Pokémon as a Special Energy card. This card provides 2 Lightning Energy only while this card is attached to a Lightning Pokémon.

Effective immediately, this is the corrected text everyone must use when playing the card:

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may Knock Out this Pokémon and attach it to one of your Lightning-type Pokémon as a Special Energy card. This card provides 2 Lightning Energy only while this card is attached to a Pokémon.

So if you use the upcoming Multi Switch to move Electrode around, it can now be moved to any type of Pokemon without losing its benefits. Without this correction, Electrode would provide no Energy if moved to a non-[L] Pokemon.

When I first posted this story, the Pokemon.com article was using the incorrect before / after text, which lead to some confusion. TPCi was alerted and now both the Pokemon.com article and this one are correct.

TPCi has also updated Electrode’s card image in the Pokemon.com database to reflect the text change. Errata changes are always made after the card has been printed and can’t be changed, so perhaps them updating the image means there will be more print runs of Evolutions and Electrode will have the corrected text. Will we see two versions of Evolutions Electrode in the future?
