Lilligant from ‘Rage of the Broken Sky!’

Lilligant… Rage of the Broken Sky… thanks goes to Vincent and Bangiras for the translation!

Lilligant – Grass – HP80
Stage 1 – Evolves from Petilil

[G] Whimper: 20 damage. During your opponent’s next turn, if he or she attaches an Energy card to the Defending Pokemon, the Defending Pokemon becomes Asleep.

[C][C] Leaf Slice: 30x damage. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 30 damage times the number of heads.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

This is the first time we’ve had a delayed Special Condition effect like that. Pretty cool! Will we see a Lilligant BREAK too?

Lilligant’s Whimper attack is a great example of the difference between “Defending Pokemon” and “your opponent’s Active Pokemon.” Whimper targets the Defending Pokemon, so if Lilligant is facing a Pikachu and uses Whimper on it, that specific Pikachu will be susceptible to Whimper’s effect next turn (if it remains Active). But if Whimper had instead said it applies to your “opponent’s Active Pokemon,” it would activate for any Pokemon in that Active spot, whether Pikachu or another Pokemon your opponent sent in. So “Defending Pokemon” refers to the specific Pokemon hit by the attack while “Active Pokemon” refers to any Pokemon in that position – whoever is sitting there.
