But their parents could. Where do little kids their money? From their parents.

No really. It's not even that rare. For example Charizard* is more rare and it doesn't sell for $100. Same thing with Wailord EX. How can that card sell for $30-40 when there are plenty of them to go around and it's not even in the format? The answer. Because of the magic number 200 on it's HP. And the GE Wailord has been sold for over $20! And they are anything but rare! Now you can get them cheaper, but you should have seen it when GE came out.
