If what we are hearing about this set is true, we may see a focus on Dragon types like Kingdra and Flygon.

There is no Japanese equivalent though, so the most comparable set here is Champion's Path.

I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea. Most probably their sales are faltering and special sets have been a money generator for them but there are only 2 Japanese sets that they can take cards from - Night Wanderer and Stellar Miracle.

There are only 2 cut cards from Twilight Masquerade - both Illustration Rares.

Night Wanderer and Stellar Miracle by themselves are an equivalent of Twilight Masquerade (Crimson Haze + Mask of Change) so that set (SV7) will be nerfed as well to accommodate for this Frankenstein crap.

The outstanding Battle Academy cards and the rest of the gym promos could've easily been put into sets since they are 99% common cards and RR cards are also worthless and already have boosted rates in sets. This is going to be a disastrous set.

I think the only silver lining is maybe it will mean the pull rates for SIRs will not be as bad as Temporal Forces or Twilight Masquerade since they are forced to split them up into 2 sets.

Yeah, I was hoping the rumours were false. There is no reason for this set to exist.
This could be based on Paradise Dragona like the article is suggesting but the dates do not line up. Paradise Dragona should come out by mid-august/early-september which would mean that we would get the cards way before Japan, which would be unprecedented. If it actually happens I think the japanese SV8 might be a double set, otherwise our SV8 will end up being just one set (at least it would be a departure from the big bloated sets we are having since SM).

I think that they will add most of the Battle Academy cards, except for Koraidon, I can see that being a promo. I also think that they may add Wooper, Quagsire, Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, and Blastoise ex. And maybe the Victini ex full art and SIR. I can see them adding Paradise Dragona or Night Wanderer. If they don't add Paradise Dragona, then they should put it in SV7.

So here's what I think this set will look like:
Battle Academy + Wooper and Quagsire Gym Promos + Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise ex + Night Wanderer.

SV7 should be Stellar Miracle, Paradise Dragona, and the Stellar Tera Decks.

"Soooo, what do you think?"

I agree with you.

Guessing that the two 3 pack blisters will feature Tinkaton and Latias as promos.

IR collection will be the Loyal 3 cut from TWM.

One of the ex Special collections will be Greninja ex, Froakie and Frogadier from Battle Academy.

& the other will be a line of 3 cut from the main set of Night Wanderer.

No idea what the ETB promo will be. Pecharunt will likely get an SAR, but would the ETB not feature it? So far the rest of the ETBs have featured ARs. I suppose they could make their own exclusive.

People complain about these randomly thrown together sets, but be honest, how much would we have loved for Jamboree to have come out? I think it's great that they find ways to make sure as many JP cards as possible get an international release. Not so interesting for players, but isn't it a welcome change to have a set that doesn't impact the meta?

A few new exs just got leaked.

#28: Stellar Tera Cinderace ex

#32 Stellar Tera Lapras ex

#51 Stellar Tera Galvantula ex

#128 Stellar Tera Terapagos ex

There will be 142 cards in the next main set, and the initials next to the set number are SCR. Likely meaning Stellar Crown or Stellar Crystal. These cards should be from Stellar Miracle.

There's already a thread for SV7 covering those.

But why would they want SCR to cannibalize Pecharunt?
I am not sure I understand your question. But if there is a Pecharunt ex then it's going to be released in Night Wanderer and there shouldn't be a reason for them to cut it from a potential Loyal-Three-based set to put it in a Terapagos set. Like I said, it doesn't fit thematically.

But if we're following the release dates, you'll know that Japan's Crimson Haze released at the same time as our Temporal Forces. So if we get Pecharunt in 6.5, but Paradise Dragona releases in Japan at the same time as "Stellar Creation" but "Stellar Creation" doesn't feature Dragona's cards, then what happens to "Stellar Creation"? Will it be on the same size scale as 151?
