Ruling Strip Bare and Rescue Energy?

Ok this situation came up at league yesterday and I need a ruling on this. I was using TR Sharpedo and used strip bare on my opponent's active pokemon. This resulted in a knockout.I flipped double heads with Strip Bare as well.Now the question I'm curious about is, what reaction happens first, is the entire opponent's hand discarded then the knocked out pokemon returns to hand, or is the pokemon returned first then the hand discarded?

You finish the attack completely before checking for knockouts. Therefore

~Sharpedo does Strip Bare and discards the entire hand
~Rescue Energy activates, returning the KO'd Pokemon to the hand. It is not discarded.
