Riddles

A large truck is crossing a bridge 1 mile long. The bridge can only hold 14000 lbs, which is the exact weight of the truck. The truck makes it half way across the bridge and stops. A bird lands on the truck. Does the bridge collapse? Give a reason.

It does not collapse because it wasted fuel getting halfway, so by the time it got there it wieghed less than 14000lbs.

@Snorchu Your riddle makes no sense, seeing as the truck itself weighs exactly 4 tons. Along with the weight if all of the animals and the farmer, the bridge would collapse as soon as he got onto it.

Either that, or the bridge is slanted downward.

^actually weighing it as a whole would include the gas. so if you burn some it WOULD lower the weight ;D ive heard that one cause my math teacher would always tell us riddles before class was over >_>

They were weighed as well

There is an old mile-long rope bridge in South America with a 4-ton weight limit. In this case, even a grain of salt more than 4 tons would cause the bridge to fail. That's why there's an ultra-precise weigh station on each end. Now, a farmer drives up in his truck which is completely packed with live pigs and dead chickens. As he approaches the bridge, he is asked by the bridge authority to pull over at the weigh station. They weigh the truck and find that it weighs exactly 4 tons, right on the nose. So they say the farmer can cross, but only once they've cleared away the rest of the traffic.

Well, they cleared the bridge, and the farmer started across. Now, as he was crossing, a sparrow started to circle around the truck, and when the farmer was exactly halfway across the bridge, the sparrow landed right on the cab of the truck. About a minute later, the truck arrives safely on the other side of the bridge, and the bridge suffered no ill effects.

How is this possible?

Hint 1: The farmer didn't jettison himself or anything else from the truck.

Adan. You just posted the exact same riddle. :|

If that's the case then the answer would be what Cris said.

What English word retains the same pronunciation, even after you take away four of its five letters?

Ah, ok. It just looked like p99 jumped in and took the biscuit. I thought I'd done something wrong.
