Hello all and welcome to PokéBeach's Pokémon GO Viability Rankings! In this thread we will rank every fully evolved Pokémon in the game into various ranks, with the highest ranked Pokémon being the most effective in battle and the lowest being the least effective. In this post you will find the Offensive Rankings, for when you battle to try and take gyms over. In the next post you will find the Defensive Rankings, ranking Pokémon based on how effective they are at defending gyms for your team!
Instead of having a pre-made rankings and then asking everyone else to make a couple of changes, we're going to build this project from the ground up! There will be 10 ranks for us to rank within.
S Rank - These are the greatest Pokémon to use when taking over gyms. They tend to have positive type matchups against the Pokémon who are defending the gyms, and have high CPs and a choice of several strong moves with which to deal large amounts of damage in short periods of time.
A Rank - These Pokémon are excellent at taking over gyms and have strong moves and typing in the current metagame. They have high CPs and can deal lots of damage fairly quickly.
A+ Rank

B Rank - These Pokémon are good at taking over gyms. They can sometimes have unfavourable type matchups or bog standard moves, but they make up for it with other factors.
B+ Rank
B- Rank
C Rank - These Pokémon are entirely capable of taking over gyms, especially when in the hands of expert Pokémon GO battlers. However, the metagame, their movepool, their stat distribution or their CP levels make them unideal choices.
C+ Rank
C- Rank
D Rank - It's not recommended that you fight gyms with any of these Pokémon. It's probably still doable, especially if the gym is a low level or has low CP Pokémon guarding it, but you should realistically have access to Pokémon in the higher ranks too.
D+ Rank
D- Rank
E Rank - Seriously, don't use these Pokémon. Like, don't even entertain the idea. Reserved for the worst of the worst only.
Unlisted - These Pokémon need more discussion until they can be ranked!
[Images will be added once Pokémon are added to ranks, but it'd be way too time consuming in bulk right now]
