Ruling discard pile??

No.
In YGO terms it's called: The graveyard.
Maybe you should look in the rule book before asking questions.
 
NO, only pokemon on bench/active and energy, pokemon tools attach to them are considered in play.
 
mmm... in the pile discard, Multi Energy, Raibow energy and Double energy, what type of energy is?? what color??
 
They count as all energy but only 1 energy at a time. So they all count as Grass, Fire, Dark, etc.
If a card says 'search the pile for a Lightning energy card' you can't pick em, since they're more than just Lightning. Quite easy huh?
 
But some energy cards state that they provide a special effect when "in play," such as a Multi Energy. Those count as colorless in the discard pile.
 
Multi Energy don't count as any number of any energy if not attached to a Pokemon. They just count as Special Energy in the discard pile. Their effect will only be determined once they are attached to something.
