Ruling Damage Counters and Bench Shield

I was wondering if an attack effect says to put damage counters on one of the opponents pokemon, does Bench shield block that or does it only block direct damage done to it?

The bench shield only blocks direct damage, not damage counters, so the answer is it doesn't block damage counters.

Ask if you need further info or clarification.

To clarify, if you had Gengar out, and you used Shadow Room on an opposing Claydol, if it had bench shield, you would do nothing. If Gengar had a snipe attack that did say 50 damage, it would do 50 damage however. If you have both on, Claydol is safe from everything.

AND IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE THEM BOTH ON, only if you put Bench Shield first. You can have 2 tools on any pokemon, if the tool card came first, then say an unown. Only 2 if one of them is an unown, so you can have Expert belt+Unown E for example.

Hm? This is incorrect on all accounts.

If Gengar uses Shadow Room on a Claydol with Bench Shield, Claydol receives 6 damage counters. Why? Because Shadow Room places damage counters, and Bench Shield only blocks direct damage. However, let's say we use Gengar's (PA, 17/99) Sharpshooting on that same Claydol:
Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. This attack does 40 damage to that Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)
Claydol takes no damage. Why? Because the attack does 40 damage. It does not place damage counters. Because it does direct damage, Bench Shield prevents the damage if the Pokemon is on the bench.

Also the ruling about the two tools is incorrect. You cannot attach Unown G to a Pokemon that already has a Tool attached to it. Similar example here.

lol Wow this Seth guy doesnt know what he's talking about. for 1,922 post you'd think that he could be legit.
