XY143 Shiny Magikarp Promo

As I posted in January, the European “Shiny Mega Gyarados Box” will come with a jumbo M Gyarados-EX reprint, a reprint of Gyarados from Ancient Origins with alternate shiny-colored artwork, three booster packs, and a PTCGO code card.

At the time I posted that some of the product sheets listed a shiny Magikarp promo would also be included in the European boxes. Well now that promo card has been revealed in PTCGO, so we know it exists.

Oddly, however, the box’s product image mentions the Magikarp card, but does not show it off in the packaging (as in showing it side-by-side with the Gyarados promo). Perhaps it was a late addition, especially since it’s not included in the American version of the box?

The American version of the box, called the “Shiny Mega Gyarados Collection,” comes with an additional booster pack and replaces the jumbo card with a shiny Mega Gyarados figure. It is currently unknown why America did not get the Magikarp promo, nor how will we get it, nor if the European versions of America’s collections will continue to have exclusive cards in the future.
