Fates Collide is the tenth XY set and will be released in America on May 4th. In Japan the set is named Awakening of the Psychic King (めざめる超王) and will be released on March 18th.

Awakening of the Psychic King Set Info

  • This is the tenth XY set and the third BREAK set.XY10 Box XY10 Booster
  • The set’s mascot is Mega Alakazam.
  • It’ll contains 78 cards (excluding secret rares).
  • The fact Zygarde was not the set’s mascot when the set was first revealed was a big hint that there would be no “Z” game in the first half of the year. As it turns out, the news of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon meant there would be no “Z” game for the foreseeable future.
  • Lugia BREAK is in the set and it is the first Basic Pokemon and Legendary Pokemon to be featured as a BREAK card.
  • The set will also see the release of a 60-card M Audino-EX Mega Battle Deck as well as a 60-card Zygarde-EX Perfect Battle Deck.
  • XY10 will also see the release of a Mega Alakazam deck box and a 32-pack of Zygarde Complete Forme card sleeves. Each will cost 362 yen, or about $4. The deck box can hold 90 sleeved cards.
  • Zygarde Audino DecksAlakazam last appeared in the TCG as the Basic Pokemon “Alakazam 4” and its Level.X card “Alakazam 4 LV.X” in Rising Rivals, which was released in 2009. Before then, the last “regular” Alakazam was in 2007’s Mysterious Treasures. The set featured an Abra with an “Ultra Evolution” attack, allowing it to evolve straight into Alakazam without Kadabra.
  • According to a few interviews I’ve held with Pokemon officials over the years, including one with Masamitsu Hidaka back in 2008, Kadabra has apparently been shelved in the TCG due to a lawsuit with Uri Geller. He’s a magician known for bending spoons and Kadabra is based on him (Kadabra’s name, Yungerer, pays homage to that inspiration). Uri Geller sued Pokemon back in 2000 when he saw a Japanese Dark Kadabra card from the Team Rocket set (the card is named “Evil Yungerer” in Japanese). It appears the TCG ban went into effect between 2002’s Skyridge (when Kadabra was last a card) and 2007’s Mysterious Treasures (when Kadabra was noticeably absent). Luckily, like the old Elite 4 cards, Pokemon-EX are Basic Pokemon and don’t need their pre-evolutions, so Kadabra’s doesn’t affect an Alakazam-EX.

Fates Collide Set Info

  • There are over 120 cards in the set, incorporating the cards from Japan’s M Audino-EX and Zygarde-EX decks.
  • The set does not use “BREAK” in the name because the conflict between nature and technology introduced in the first two BREAK sets has come to a close with this set.
  • Pokemon-EX in our English set: Altaria-EX, Diancie-EX, Genesect-EX, Glaceon-EX, Umbreon-EX, Audino-EX, Regirock-EX, Kingdra-EX, Alakazam-EX, Zygarde-EX. Mega Evolutions: M Altaria-EX, M Audino-EX, M Alakazam-EX.
  • Pokemon BREAK: Omastar BREAK, Bronzong BREAK, Delphox BREAK, Lugia BREAK, Carbink BREAK
  • The theme decks feature Zygarde in a Fighting / Grass deck and Lugia in a Fire / Fairy deck.
  • A Mega Alakazam Elite Trainer Box and Mega Alakazam & Zygarde 3-pack pin blister will also be released alongside the set.
