ZPS (Zekrom Pachirisu Shaymin) counter against Donphan Prime?

Hi Pokebeach People! I will be making a Zekrom Pachirisu Shaymin deck, but most of my meta is Donphan... So, I need a good counter, I won't be using Yanmega Prime in my decklist BTW.

I would try Raikou & Suicune LEGEND. It can survive a hit from Donphan (as long as it hasn't used ThunderBolt Spear, and if it has it just needs one Defender, which I recommend running with Zekrom anyway.) and it can one-shot nearly anything in the format using only lightning energies. The downside is that it gives your opponent 2 prizes if KO'd.
 
Sure thing! Another option that's less reckless is Red Gyarados from HGSS. It's stage 1 and has 130 HP and fighting resistance, and its first attack just needs one energy of any type, and it can 2-shot Donphan with one heads.

use yanmega hes rlly usefull and resistant to rock, only viable tech for zekrom pachirisu deck, yanma and yanmega both have free retreat, so yanma wont reduce ur chances at a dunk, yanma can also snipe pokemon and do it 0 energy cost
 
Yeah, Yanmega is the best option. The idea is that it wins the prize exchange against Donphans with PlusPowers, or at least keeps it even otherwise, as the Donphans damage their bench. Then, Zekrom can come in and one-shot anything, keeping the prize exchange tied from there on out. I run a 2-2 Yanmega Prime line, with 2 Rescue Energy and 4 Judge. All of these cards help in other games as well, so it actually doesn't waste any space in the deck.

However, this doesn't always go down as planned and often doesn't work. At absolute best, it brings your DonChamp matchup to about 40-60 in their favor. If your metagame is truly a lot of Donphan I'd think about trying a different deck.

Haha, seriously guys. Come on now.

I'm thinking 1-0-1 Samurott. You don't need any Water Energy, it's got 140 HP, and it's got a nice Ability. It requires a Rare Candy and an Oshawott, but you may be able to find some space left over for it. Just a thought.
 
Eh. Idk about running Rare Candy in a deck that has no stage 2s except for a tech, but I still think it's a viable card.
