The debate is rather or not Yamato is the best player.
Discuss and answer the poll.

I'll start...

Yamato has won worlds, gotten top 8, and 3rd in worlds.
His strategy is amazing and the nerve to play some decks he does. He
does the impossible. He most definitely is the best. etc.

There are better talents undiscovered in the world so he isn't the best. That's my opinion, don't take is as an insult.

No that's why I made this thread to see eveyone's opionions, i'm nowhere near offended:D

He is considered cool since the undiscovered talent is not discovered yet.

lol, those will show themselves soon, like Jun in the Juniors came out of no where etc.

If the criterion for 'best' was measured as objectively as possible based on tournament records, innovation, consistency, the ability to generate polls like in the first place, the ability to influence the metagame of an event as big as Worlds singlehandedly, etc., Yamato would probably come out as 'the best', but even trying to measure something like that in the first place is kind of silly.

From what I've observed, regardless of whether or not he's 'the best', I'd say Yamato is definitely a figurehead, both of this game in general and also Japan. That alone is something.

well from all that I know he's the best, but I mean you know he's GOOD it just to the extent of that that I'm trying to measure.

He is very good. But I speak for myself, and many other great strategical minds, he has Cash, Time, and a Good Met-Game. My meta-game is n00bs with 90% Donk. And my budget is below 20% of anyone who went to worlds (you could give me a billion and I'dd still never go :p), but other players would sweep. Besides, mabey he just has high luck and Donk. Still, a great player of the game. Don't get me wrong there. But BEST?

Your right, my budget is bad but I mean I have to live with infestations of n00bs at my league... I need more practice but your opinion is fine, you could say you hate him, doesn't bother me:D

He's good enough to be a figurehead and a 'superstar', if you will. He's good enough to have nabbed the best track record at Worlds this year in his division. He's good enough to have won Worlds in the past.

If your criterion for 'best' includes these things, then I suppose he is the best. But I personally don't think you can measure something like that. There is no definitive criterion, the process is too subjective, etc..

I think the fact that he is ONE of the best is hard to debate.

Your right it's hard to define him as best, so let's just say record wise, or strat wise(I know that's one's hard to measure but...)

Your right in many ways. I know this is hard to say he's BEST but it's mainly opinion and then record wise.

One of the coolest people you could ever meet, plus he has the skills nessicary to win worlds. He's definately one of the better players in this game to say the least (and one of the better people as well).

what is the point of this thread?! of COURSE hes NOT the best player! there could be undiscovered talents out there waiting to blossem into a japanese-hiroki-yamato-beating tcg pokemon master!

Just because he has many achievements does not mean he is the best in the world.

There are many players who have achieved alot.

This is like saying that George Bush is the best president America has ever had because he has started the most pointless wars in his time in office.
