Ruling Weakness's

This just came to mind and its probaly a simple question.

On pokemon some of them have weakness to certain types +20/30, what i wondering is what if i use a move that does no damage to the opponents pokemon but inflicts a status will it deal damage because of the weakness?

No, the move has to do damage in the first place for it to be affected by weakness/resistance. Same goes for cards like pluspower/buck's training, if it's a move that doesn't do damage, then they won't add 10.

Also placing damage counters will not get the advantage of weakness.

Simple rule: If the Base damage is zero, Weakness and Resistance WILL NEVER apply.
