Unironically yes they are called SECRET cards for a reason. But yeah I remember there was another SV set that barely had any SR revealed prior. Obviously this has way more so I understand the frustration

Is useless? Early on you will only help your opponent with his set up, later on the game how likely your opponent will still have basic Pokemons on his deck? The only Pokemon that could take advantage of weak basic Pokemons is maybe Hands

This is great for control- especially something like hand mill, or hand control- where you want to know what's in their hand after item locking. Should you rip Eri or attack with the Rotom that discards items/tools? Let's take a look first and see with Mandibuzz... oh yeah they have the Ace Spec in their hand- yes, let's get rid of that- lol

yeah it does double duty. if you play a spread/snipe deck, throw that last dreepy they were protecting onto the bench and take it out. AND you can clog their bench with stuff they don't want (oh you have a late game budew? lmao bye) plus like you said, you get to see their hand for strategic plays with disrupt.
