Pokémon - 14
Trainer Cards - 33
The strategy for this deck is to swing with your Houndoom and Volcanion, with Volcanion-EX and Talonflame / BREAK as supporters.
Volcanion: Power Heater and Steam Artillery are both great attacks. Power Heater will keep the energies on your Pokémon (since Blacksmith is no longer standard), and Steam Artillery is a fantastic finisher. Due to its “non-EX” HP value, consider using a Fighting Fury Belt. That being said, having a Float Stone on one of your Volcanions is helpful for getting energies back on Pokémon while your Volcanion-EX is charging.
Houndoom-EX: Melting Horn is a useful utility ability, but should only be used if milling your opponent could net you a win (they use multiple Professor Sycamore cards). Otherwise, Grand Flame is the main focus here. It does more damage than Power Heater, but only grants one energy. Still, the Houndoom-EX makes a great swinger with a Fighting Fury Belt. If you do want to cycle, Float Stone isn’t a bad option here either.
Volcanion-EX: This Pokémon a support role with its Steam Up ability, but can also do some awesome damage with Volcanic Heat. If you do use Volcanic Heat, it helps to have a Float Stone to swap back to a different Pokémon after.
Talonflame / BREAK: This Pokémon allows the deck to get needed components with Aero Blitz if you get it in hand one (Gale Wings). Otherwise it provides easy sacrifice fodder for Ultra Ball. If you do get a Talonflame out, you can upgrade it to Talonflame BREAK to do awesome damage (but without the Volcanion-EX ability).
