Hello.
I've begun playing a variant I greatly enjoy.
Decks are 100 card singleton (with the exception of basic lands).
Of these 100 cards, precisely 6 must be basic Pokémon. The rest may only include stages 1 and 2, trainers, items, supporters, stadiums and energies.
Begin the game with these 6 basics in play as your active and benched Pokémon. The 94 remaining cards are your deck. No prizes; the last 'mon standing determines the winner.
Gameplay remains unchanged.
Please debunk.

Slightly longer, generally. If you are playing multiplayer, absolutely.
There is significantly less hand buggery, so even when games are not short, they are more "back and forth."

We have started playing very recently, so maybe it is our lack of older cards, and they aren't worded with APNAP or targeting, but yes, we play multiplayer and haven't had to change the functionality of any cards to make it work. Sportspersonship is key to prevent blowouts, but that is true for the game this variant is based on as well.
