Hi swapforce1,

I am a fan of Trevenant too but the deck seems to be rather slow and you do not need more than 10-11 energies in total in this deck due to the low energy cost of your Pokémon. I would also consider to run more stable draw supporters and Trevenant from XY1. The trainer lock will help the deck a lot and buy you some time to get Gengar out.

Consider a built similar to this to increase the speed and consistency of your deck:

Pokémon (18):
  • 2 Trevenant Break (spread damage)
  • 4 Trevenant XY1 (beatdown)
  • 4 Phantump XY9 (evolution)
  • 2 Gengar XY8 (beatdown)
  • 2 Haunter XY8 (disabler)
  • 2 Gastly XY8 (evolution)
  • 2 Shaymin Ex (draw)

Trainer (32):
  • 2 Prof. Birch's Observation (draw)
  • 4 Professor Sycamore (draw)
  • 2 Wally (evolution)
  • 1 Lysandre (enable)
  • 1 AZ (retrieval)
  • 3 Trainer's Mail (search)
  • 3 Heavy Boot (booster)
  • 1 Super Rod (retrieval)
  • 3 Float Stone (retreat)
  • 3 Vs Seeker (retrieval)
  • 2 Level Ball (search)
  • 4 Ultra Ball (search)
  • 3 Dimensional Valley (reduce attack costs)

Energy (10):
  • 10 Psychic Energy

The main idea would be to start with Phantump and use his attack to evolve into Trevenant turn one. Swarm with Trevenant and have either Heavy Boot or Float Stone attached to him. You can use Trainer's Mail and your draw supporters to search them out faster. Heavy Boot combos well with Haunter. When attached to a three energy retreat cost Trevenant it will be immune to confusion while locking item cards. Use Ultra Ball and Level Ball (preferably the latter) to search for Haunter and evolve the benched Gastly. This will confuse the defending Pokèmon while Trevenant remains unaffected when heavy Boots is attached to him. Combining confusion with item lock can be a nasty combo unless the defending Pokémon has free retreat. Float Stone, on the other hand, allows Trevenant to retreat for free into Gengar. I would focus more on Trevenant and use Gengar as a cleaner to draw the fast 2-3 prizes since he would break the lock Trevenant established. Hope this provides some initial assistance.

Yeah, a lot of decks these days have play around 7 Energy, but obviously it varies from deck to deck. You don't need any where near as many Energies when you can draw into them more frequently with a better draw engine. Consider getting a playset of Professor Sycamores, and maybe a few Professor Birch / Judge / Shauna for additional draw. Shaymin EX is a really good option, but it can be a bit too pricey for newer players looking to get into the game. This is the general direction you should go in.

tnx for the idea but im petrified of the idea of not drawing into energy witch is why all my decks have at least 20

Hi swapforce1,

No problem but the proposed deck has no problems to draw into energies. You can search out cards fast which thins the deck and allows you to draw the needed energies instead of having to rely on topdecking them.

I merged your two Gengar Trevenant threads and updated your deck list in the OP. In the future, you can just bump your old thread if you are still wanting to receive feedback on your deck list :)
