Hi,
I am a vendor at shows and am looking to become more prominent in the industry. I actually got approached at a show today and was told that my hometown is opening a Frank and Sons type style vending and I am looking to do that where I live. However, for the meantime, I am still trying to tweak to not only have the best prices for customers', but carry things that people care about. What are things that you as collectors care about? I am looking to not just sell, but to build a community. At shows, I price very aggressively and I have seen that it hasn't been the most success. The vendor next to me was selling Destined Rivals ETB's for $100 and I was selling them for $5. Granted, I only had 2 ETBs but I was able to sell one at the show. The other one, I did not have success getting rid of. I think the guy next to me was selling more than me though as well. Aside from maybe it's a personality thing, I want to know if any of you have advice. Maybe it's not the right focus I am going for, I am trying to not be labeled as a "scalper" as I HAVE to until I get distribution. I have some sort of piece of mind knowing I am getting people product for less than market, but it's still above retail..
I supplied binders and deck to the venue to handout to people to help them gain traction in addition to get my brand out, but between selling very aggressively, paying my friend to work for me for the day, and paying for the booth. I definitely took a net loss at this show. A horrible business model, I know, but I'm hoping as I build my Instagram following, the support will eventually follow and that negative is the beginning of any business starting. Thank you if you took the time to read this and let me know your thoughts!
I'll attach my booth setup
