This is a fanfic based on the two new games I wish to make: Pokemon Topaz and Pokemon Quartz. I had to repost this because I couldnt post in the previous one for some reason. It is the same fic so enjoy.


Chapter 1: A New Start to a New Adventure​


On a trainers 10th birthday, they cant wait to get their first Pokemon. This was the same for this young trainer....

..."SAM!!! GET UP!!!" a voice shouted from the downstairs of Sam's house.
"Hunh? Where am I?" Sam asked himself.
"Today is your 10th birthday. You wanted a Pokemon of your own and start off on a journey didnt you?" the same person asked him.
"Holy crud! Youre right! Thanks for reminding me mom!" Sam said as he got changed.
"Sam?" his mom said.
"Yeah? What is it mom?" Sam replied.
"Before you go, promise me to send letters to me and promise me you will be okay on your journey." Sam's mom said.
"I promise." Sam replied as he darted straight for the Evergreen Town Laboratory.

At the Evergreen Town Laboratory...
"Professor...PROFESSOR!!!" Sam shouted as he rushed in the lab, panting.
"Ah, Sam. You are here for your new Pokemon arent you?" the professor asked him.
"Yes I am Professor Herb." Sam replied.
"Come this way then shall we?" Professor Herb asked him, leading him to a different room.
"Wow, I never knew this room existed." Sam said.
"Well, not many kids do until their 10th birthday. In this room, you get to test out Pokemon in battle with other people. Now, here are your three options. First, Bethorn which a Grass type Pokemon." Professor Herb was then cut off.
"Cool, I always wanted a pet beetle but mom never let me have one." Sam said.
"Um...very nice. Anyway, your second option, Flerrier which is a Fire type Pokemon. Or last but not least, Tipus, a Water type Pokemon." Herb said.
"Hum, Bethorn, Flerrier or Tipus? Can I try them out first?" Sam asked.
"Of course. Just choose the Pokemon you want to test out first." Herb said.
"Ill try you first Tipus." Sam said to himself.
"Here is Tipus' Pokeball." Herb said.
"Thanks." Sam said.
"Here is your opponent, his name is Nicky and he is quite the trainer. He has two Pokemon and yet to win any badges." Herb said.
"Cool. Tipus, go!" Sam ordered as the Tiny Octopus Pokemon moved to the arena.
"All right, Fli, lets go!" Nicky commanded as the Dart Fly Pokemon, Fli, sprung out of its Pokeball and entered the arena.

"Tipus, use Bubble!" Sam ordered as Tipus launched many many small bubbles surrounding Fli.
"Fli, Poison Sting to pop all of the bubbles!" Nicky ordered.
Fli popped all of the bubbles with Poison Sting and hit Tipus.
"Tipus, are you still okay to battle?" Sam asked it.
"Tiiipus!" Tipus answered.
"Good, use Smokescreen!" Sam ordered it as it shot out smoke to blind Fli temporarily.
"Fli, use a Gust attack." Nicky commanded as Fli blew the smoke away with a quite powerful Gust.
"Tipus, Bubble." Sam told it.
"Fli, Poison Sting." Nicky told Fli as it popped all the bubbles with Poison Sting and scored a direct hit on Tipus.
"Tipus is unable to battle. Fli is the winner." Herb said.
"Its okay Tipus, return." Sam said returning the fallen Tipus to its Pokeball.

"Ill test Bethorn now if thats okay." Sam said.
"Go ahead. Nicky still has another Pokemon." Herb replied.
"Bethorn, come." Sam said as Bethorn came to Sam quite joyously.
"Zappy, come on out." Nicky commanded as the Electric Fox, Zappy, emerged from its Pokeball.
"Bethorn, Tackle!" Sam commanded as bethorn charged at Zappy.
"Zappy, Thundershock!" Nicky commanded as a bolt of electric hit Bethorn and paralyzed.
"Zappy, now use Thunder Tail!" Nicky ordered.
Zappy charged and struck a paralyzed Bethorn with a powerful Thunder Tail.
"Bethorn is unable to battle. Zappy wins." Herb said.
"Nice job Zappy, return." Nicky said to Zappy, stroking it before retunring it to its Pokeball.

"That leaves Flerrier. Flerrier, come to the arena." Herb said as the Flerrier ran at good speed to the arena.
"Are your Pokemon still okay to go Nicky?" Herb asked.
"I suppose I can use Zappy again. Zappy, lets go again." Nicky said as Zappy re-emerged from its Pokeball.
"Flerrier, Ember." Sam said as Flerrier shot a nice amount of bursting flames heading for Zappy.
"Zappy, dodge and use Thunder Tail!" Nicky shouted as Zappy successfully dodging Ember and striking Flerrier with a thunderous blow to the head.
"Flerrier no!"
"Flerrier is unable to battle. Zappy is the winner." Herb said as Nicky praised Zappy once more and returned it to its Pokeball.
"Im never going to become a good Pokemon trainer." Sam said to himself.
"Sam, I was like that when I started. I wouldve used my starter Pokemon but its healing due to the injury it sustained at the Cascade City Gym. I almost won my first badge." Nicky said.
"Well, thanks for the encouraging Nicky." Sam said.
"No porbs." Nicky replied.
"Well, Sam, have you decided which Pokemon you are going to choose?" Herb asked him.
"I sure have...."

Chapter 2: Decisions, was it the Right One?​


..."I sure have Professor, Im taking Bethorn!" Sam said.
"Great, now, here are a few things you will need. First, Bethorn's Pokeball." Herb said.
"Thank you Professor." Sam said.
"Secondly, five Pokeballs for your journey." Herb showed him the Pokeballs and placed them in his hand.
"Thank you so much Professor!" Sam shouted.
"Im not finished. Last but not least, a Pokedex." Herb continued.
"Wow, an actual Pokedex. Thanks heaps Professor." Sam said.
"That Pokedex will keep record of every Pokemon you have registered in it." Herb said.
"Well, thanks again. Bye!" Sam yelled as he ran off to the woods.

In the woods...
"Bethorn, come on out!" Sam ordered as his new Beetle Pokemon Bethorn emerged from its Pokeball.
"Im going to check you out with my Pokedex." Sam said, flipping the Pokedex out of his pocket.
Bethorn, the Baby Beetle Pokemon. Bethorn munch on leaves to feed themselves when hungry. If provoked, Bethorn will alert its family.
"Cool. Since you like leaves, I might as well pick one for you. There, like it?" Sam asked it as it munched happily at the leaf.

Suddenly...
"Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!"
"What was that?!" Sam asked himself, the buzzing getting louder and louder.
As seconds passed, Sam knew that the noise was getting nearer with every step. But it wasnt them getting closer, it was Sam getting closer to them. It was then that he saw Nicky training for the Aqua Badge in Cascade City.
"Nicky?" Sam asked.
"Sam, nice to see you again and it looks like you picked Bethorn." Nicky replied.
"Yeah, Bethorn is going to e a great companion." Sam said.
"Say Sam. Lets have a 1 on 1 battle." Nicky asked him.
"Ok, lets go!" Sam replied.
"Bethorn, go!" Sam yelled as Bethorn walked ifront of Sam.
"Ok Bethorn lets go!" Nicky yelled as a second Bethorn came out but, with a bigger horn and size.
"You have Bethorn too?!" Sam asked Nicky.
"I do but this Bethorn has had more training than your Bethorn so it will have the advantage. Horn Attack Bethorn!" Nicky commanded as his Bethorn charged to Sam's Bethorn.
"Bethorn, Harden!" Sam ordered. Sam's Bethorn managed to stay out of big trouble with Harden.
"Bethorn, use your Tackle!" Sam commanded as his Bethorn managed to knock Nicky's Bethorn to the ground.
"Your Bethorn isnt bad Sam. Bethorn, Horn Attack once more!" Nicky ordered as Nicky's Bethorn scored a direct hit on Horn Attack.
"Are you okay Bethorn?" Sam asked it.
"Sam, I think you should let Bethorn rest. It did just take a Horn Attack in its weak spot and got slammed to that tree." Nicky said.
"Youre right, Bethorn, return." Sam told it, returning his Bethorn to its Pokeball.
"So Nicky, how are youre other Pokemon?" Sam asked him.
"Fli is in great condition. Zappy is showing great potential as of late and Bethorn I think is getting quite close to evolution." Nicky replied.
"Bethorn is going to evolve? What to?" Sam asked Nicky.
"Well, I dont know if Bethorn is going to evolve soon but I know it evolves into Thortle." Nicky replied as Sam got his Pokedex straight away.
Thortle, the Thorn Beetle Pokemon. Thortle is the evolved form of Bethorn. Thortle will try to defend younger Bethorn at almost all costs. Thortle are known to gather at night and construct shelter for the baby Bethorn with dung.
"So Thortle are basically dungbeetles huh?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, pretty much." Nicky replied.

Later that night...
"Hey Nicky, did you hear something?" Sam asked him.
"It sounded like the trees rustling." Nicky replied when an Aipom appeared from the tree.
"Cool an Aipom!" Sam shouted quietly as he got his Pokedex.
Aipom, the Long Tail Pokemon. Aipom lives upon giant trees. Its tail is more adept than its real hands.
"Cool, Bethorn, Tackle!" Sam ordered as his Bethorn emerged and tackled Aipom to the tree.
"AiiiiPom!" the Aipom shouted charging.
"Sam, Aipom is using Fire Tail!" Nicky told him.
"Fire Tail?! Bethorn, Harden quick!" Sam commanded as Bethorn hardened itself but still got damaged by Aipom's Fire Tail.
"Bethorn, Tackle again!" Sam commanded but this time, Aipom dodged with its adept tail.
"Aipom's quick." Sam said.
"Bethorn, chase Aipom and use Tackle!" Sam ordered.
The wild Aipom lured the Bethorn to a false sense of security and then hit with a Fire Tail.
"Bethorn, I need you to get up and use Tackle." Sam said to it as Bethorn got up and charged at a currently cocky Aipom who was dancing about.
"Cool, I suggest throwing a Ball now. PokeBall go!" Sam shouted as the energy of the Pokeball took Aipom and started concealing it.

Im going to have to continue it. You need to know what will happen to the Aipom.

What is going to happen to it is quite weird actually o_O

Chapter 3:Showdown at Cascade City plus a Capture!​

...*shake...shake...shake...*
At that moment the Aipom broke free and started dancing as if it was really good.
Meanwhile...
"Hey partner?" a guy said.
"Yeah?" a second man said.
"Why have you got a coconut in your hands?" the first guy asked.
"I wanna drink the stuff out of it." the second guy replied.
It was at that moment that the second guy dropped the coconut.
"Hey look Nicky." Sam said.
"Yeah, I know, a star." Nicky replied.
"Not that, the coconut!" Sam yelled as the coconut fell and landed right on the wild Aipom's head.
"Heres my chance I guess. Pokeball, go!" Sam yelled as he tried a second time catching the energetic Aipom.
*shake...shake...shake...ping*
"Cool, I caught an Aipom...but in the weirdest way." Sam said in unusual triumph.
"You might as well train it tomorrow. Its getting really dark and we should rest." Nicky said.
"Okay then. Bethorn, return." Sam said as he returned Bethorn to its Pokeball.

The next day...
*BOOM*
"Ow, what was that?" Nicky asked Sam.
"Im practising Aipom's Fire Tail. Its good right Aipom?" Sam replied.
"Aiiipom!" Aipom replied.
"Best head to Cascade City. Time for my first Gym Badge." Sam said, dashing off.
"...Sometimes, I wish he was patient." Nicky said to himself.

Approaching Cascade City...
"Wow, I think I see it Bethorn." Sam said.
Then, a mysterious person came along.
"Hello young traveler. Are you a Pokemon Trainer?" the mysterious person asked.
"Obviously, yes. I have Pokemon. Two of 'em. Why do you ask?" Sam replied.
"There is going to be a Pokemon tournament at Cascade City tomorrow if you wanted to join. All battles are double battles and each trainer can only use two Pokemon for each round." the shady person said.
"Who are you?" Sam asked him.
"Oh yeah I forgot, my name is John and I am the Gym Leader of the Cascade City Gym." John said.
"I challenge you to a Gym Battle John!" Sam said.
"I accept then." John said.

At the gym...
"This Gym Battle will be between the Gym Leader John and Sam, the challenger. This will be a 2 on 2 battle and the only way a trainer can win is when both of their opponents Pokemon are unable to battle. Leader John, send out your first Pokemon." the referee said.
"Fine, Remoraid, lets go." John said.
"Ok. Sam, please send out your first Pokemon." the referee said.
"Ok, Aipom, come on out." Sam said as his newly caught companion Aipom emerged from its Pokeball.
"BEGIN!!"
"Remoraid, Water Gun!" John commanded as Remoraid shot a powerful Water Gun.
"Aipom, dodge and use Fury Swipes!" Sam ordered as Aipom dodged and swiped the Remoraid.
"Aipom, Fire Tail!" Sam commanded.
"Fire Tail? Humph, Remoraid, use Psybeam!" John ordered as his Remoraid as it scored a direct hit with Psybeam.
"Aipom, use Thief!" Sam said as Aipom tried to swoop in at hit Remoraid.
"You cant thieve me if I dont have anything. Remoraid, Aurora Beam." John commanded as Remoraid scored another direct hit on Aipom.
"D'you give up yet?" John asked him.
"No, I believe in Aipom and I was setting up for this all along...Aipom.....

End of Chapter 3​

What has Sam set up for all of this time? Will it be enough to defeat Remoraid and will Sam defeat John? Tune in to the next chapter.

Chapter 4:The Last Resort​

..."Aipom...use Last Resort!" Sam shouted as Aipom slammed Remoraid with its Last Resort attack, knocking Remoraid out.
"Remoraid is unable to battle, Aipom is the winner." the referee announced.
"Great job Aipom, you did it." Sam said.
"Nice job Sam. Tipus, lets go!" John commanded as his Tipus emerged from its Pokeball.
"Tipus, Bubble!" John said.
"Aipom, hop on to the bubbles!" Sam commanded.
Aipom was doing this very well until it landed on a bubble which popped when contact was made. Aipom fell into the Gym's water.
"Tipus, Tidal Crash!" John commanded as Tipus slammed the water creating a mass wave knocking Aipom out.
"Aipom is unable to battle. Tipus is the winner." the ref said.
"Bethorn, your turn!" Sam ordered as Bethorn came out of the Pokeball.
"Bethorn, use Horn Attack!" Sam commanded as Bethorn charged at Tipus.
"Tipus, Smokescreen." John said as Tipus temporarily blinded Bethorn.
"Bethorn, try use Horn attack." Sam said.
"Tipus, Bubblebeam." John said as Tipus shot many bubbles rapidly at Bethorn, hitting it with every bubble.
"Hes good. I cant see where Tipus is firing those Bubbles from...unless, Bethorn, dive underwater!" Sam commanded as Bethorn dived into the water.
"What?!...Oh no!" John yelled as the smoke had cleared, Tipus on a floating platform.
"Perfect, Bethorn Horn Attack!" Sam commanded.
"Where is it?! Tipus, fire Bubblebeam at will underwater!" John commanded.
Tipus fired bubbles into the water but to no evail as Bethorn was at the other side. It then Horn Attacked the bottom of the platform to send Tipus and the floating platform flying.
"Oh no!" John exclaimed as Sam went for the finish.
"Use one final Horn Attack!" Sam yelled as Bethorn scored a direct hit on Tipus' body, knocking it out.
"Tipus is unable to battle, Bethorn is the winner! The winner of this Gym battle is Sam from Evergreen Town!" the referee announced as John returned his Tipus to its Pokeball.

Later outside of the gym...
"That was clever Sam. Using the smoke to your advantage. I am pleased to award you this Aqua Badge." John said as Sam grabbed the Aqua Badge.
"Wow. Thanks John. Badge numero uno!" Sam said as John called him back.
"Are you entering the tournament?" John asked him.
"I forgot about that. Yeah, its tomorrow right?" Sam asked him.
"Yes, it is tomorrow." John replied.
"Well, Im entering!" Sam said.
"Ill be in the crowd cheering you on." John said.
"Thanks." Sam said back.

The next day...
"Welcome to the 3rd annual Cascade City Tournament! People from many towns and cities have come to this 16 person tournament. The winner of the tournament will win this: a ticket to Charcoal Island, a Water Stone and a Fire Stone. Lets meet the contestants as they line up!" a commentator exclaimed as the crowd cheered electricly.

A few minutes later...
"Every match here will be double battles using only two Pokemon. There can only be a winner when both of their opponent's Pokemon are unable to battle. Our first match is between first, a rookie trainer who started off on his journey with Flerrier and has managed to overcome the Gym Leader of this city, its Paul!" the commentator said.
*crowd applauds heavily*
"And now the second contestant, a trainer who started with Bethorn and has also defeated John of Cascade City, Sam!" the commentator continued.
*crowd applauds heavily again*
"Are you ready to lose meat?" Paul asked him.
"Im gonna make you eat those words with the newest addition to my team." Sam replied.
"Is that so? Well, Phoeflame and Flerrier, lets go!" Paul exclaimed releasing the Blaze Puppy Flerrier and the Fire Phoenix Phoeflame.
"Aipom and...

Allright, Ill have the 5th chapter later tonight so if anyone wants to make predictions on the new Pokemon Sam has caught, feel free.
 
Chapter 5: Tourney Mayhem Part I​

..."Aipom and Riolu, lets go and show them what youre made of!" Sam commanded as Aipom and his newest companion, Riolu emerged from their balls.
"This match between Sam and Paul is about to commence!" the referee announced.
"....BEGIN!!!"
"Aipom, Fire Tail on Phoeflame! Riolu, Force Palm on Flerrier!" Sam commanded as both Pokemon charged at their opponents.
"Flerrier and Phoeflame, double Ember!" Paul yelled as both Pokemon launched a scorching Ember attack, hitting both of their opponents.
"Aipom, give Riolu a boost! Riolu, Jump Kick on Flerrier!" Sam commanded as Riolu sprung into the air.
"Phoeflame, grab Riolu!" Paul commanded as Phoeflame tried to grab Riolu but missed it.
"Oh no!"
There was an explosion after the big kick. Flerrier was knocked out.
"Flerrier is unable to battle!" the referee announced.
"Phoeflame, Aerial Ace on Riolu quick!" Paul announced as Phoeflame caught Riolu before it touched the ground.
"Riolu is unable to battle!" the referee called.
"Aipom, Fury Swipes!" Sam commanded as Aipom started to scratch Phoeflame.
"Phoeflame, retaliate with Peck!" Paul ordered as Phoeflame started to peck Aipom.
"Aipom, Thief!" Sam commanded as Aipom took the Rawst Berry that Phoeflame was holding.
"Great job Aipom, youre ready to go. Last Resort now!" Sam commanded as Aipom charged into Phoeflame with a terrible blow.
"Phoeflame is unable to battle. Youre winner is Sam!" the referee yelled.
*crowd applauds*

Back in the trainers lounge...
"Nice battle Paul. We ought to do it again sometime." Sam said extending his hand.
"Id shake but I dont shake with nerdos like you." Paul said as he walked out of the arena.
"Insensitive jerk. Anyway, god job Riolu and Aipom. Have some of this food my mom made for me. Youve earned it." Sam said as both Aipom and Riolu happily ate the food.
"Aipom, you can take a rest. Riolu, do you want to practice some more?" Sam asked it.
"RioooooooLU!!!!!" Riolu cried in joy.
"I knew you would, lets go in the training lounge." Sam told it.

In the training lounge...
"See Riolu? Youve got every material you need to train. Just dont overdo yourself for the battle tomorrow ok?" Sam asked it as Riolu was already on the bungee jump.
"Urm, I didnt actually see that but at least it can get rid of your fear of not so extreme heights eh?" Sam asked it again as Riolu was starting to feel a bit better in the air.

The next day...
"The following match will be between Sam and Naomi in this quarter-finals match. Begin!" the referee exclaimed.
"Bethorn and Riolu, lets GO!!!" Sam yelled as Bethorn and his Riolu emerged from their Pokeballs.
"Humph, Fliodart and Zappy, lets go!" Naomi commanded as the evolution of Fli, Fliodart and Zappy emerged from their balls.
