Ruling Special Energy?

Ok. So if my opponent were to have a Special Metal Energy attached to their active pokemon and I used an attack that did 60 damage and said to discard all special energy attached to the defending pokemon.... Do I apply the damage before or after the Metal energy is discarded? o_0

Damage is applied first then the effect of the attack happens. It would recive 60-10 damage for each special metal energy attached to it.~Mark
