I'm stuck on the first part of World 8. Any tips on how to get past the tanks? (I have no items)

This is very hard. You better have a P-wing or a Bullet head suit to survive. If you have no items jump on the bullet bills when you can and they do have breaks so watch the firing pattern. I think they do 2 or 3 shot and then pause. Use the pause to move on.
