1. What is the purpose of this card? Does it bring anything special to the table?
This Scrafty is a pure attacker - he has no other purpose than to do damage! His moves aren't particularly game breaking, they are fairly standard attacks.
For one {D}, you can do 20 damage while taking 20 less on your next turn. For {D}{C}{C} you can do 50, but a possible 80 if the opponent's active pokemon has more health than Scrafty at the time of attacking. Simple!
2. What kind of combos or decks would this card do well with?
I'm going to be honest here - not a whole lot. The problem with this card is that it is a Stage 1 Pokemon that is on OHKO (One Hit K.O.) range of the majority of pokemon that are contenders right now.
Since Scrafty is dark, it can be used to counter Chandelure decks to an extent. However, there are some fairly large drawbacks to doing so:
- Running a Scrafty line to counter cards that are weak to Dark will take up ~4 slots in your deck
- Hammer Kick requiring {D}{C}{C} means that it will take 3 turns (2 with DCE) to set up
- The decks that need a Dark pokemon have a superior card already - Absol Prime
The redeeming factor for Scrafty will be that it is quite the contender when you begin considering Tier 3 (non-competitive) decks when the expansion after Next Destinies is release. With a fair amount of cards being released to help power up your Dark pokemon, Scrafty will be hitting hard and fast in casual games. With Darkness Energy and Darkness Claw (shown below), Scrafty can potentially OHKO some of the lower tier pokemon out there.
3. Final Thoughts
Unfortunately,
Absol Prime does Scrafty's job that much better when it comes to countering cards that are weak to Darkness (as well as having a decent poke-body). With the amount of time required to set up a Scrafty, I can't see it being used in competitive play. It's attack is lackluster when comparing it to the EXs and the already amazing attackers from HG:SS -> BW.
I definitely see him being extremely mean when it comes to casual games though. And I appreciate that at least!

Code:
Darkness Claw - Tool
Pokemon Tool: To use a Pokemon Tool, attach it to one of your Pokemon. Each Pokemon can only have 1 card attached, and the card remains attached.
The attacks of the Darkness-type Pokemon that this card is attached to do an additional 20 damage to any Active Pokemon.
