Then why does salamence sf's body work if an sp lv x (e.g. chomp c x) is out and you play a snowpoint temple, making their max hp 130?

Maximum hp is as stated...maximum, including all modifications.

Salamence is different than Ditto. Ditto copies the printed HP of the Defending Pokemon. It doesn't copy any modifiers the Defending Pokemon has. Perhaps the last answer was worded poorly. Salamence just checks for if they have a Pokemon in play with a maximum HP of 120 or more.~Mark
