What exactly is the game referring to when it tells you that you have an "Advantage" over your opponent? Is it type advantage? Player points advantage? Higher win ratio? Is it something else entirely?

"Advantage" is given to the player with a higher evaluative score (this score value has a specific name for the algorithm used to generate it, but I forgot it...). This score is built up over your entire career of playing ranked games (at least since this was added in as a feature) and is based on your wins and losses, as well as the scores of those you won and lost again.
In general, this single number is an attempt by the program to objectively represent your typical performance and skill in play, regardless of what decks you played or played against. The game will try to pair you with another player of similar score if one is available when making a game.
