-----squirtli, Axel, GoRockQuadsGiratina, Pokemaniac, and I, Charizard88 have been working on a spriting project for a few days now. We have so far gathered an experienced crew. However we do need more people to assist us in this large project. So if your at all interested in this project continue to read more.

Our ultimate goal throughout this project is to get a series of guides put together to cover just about any kind of spriting we can find. We are also going to gather a large gallery of sprites to show everyone, and then eventually we will have all sorts of sprites that anyone and everyone can see study, observe, and learn from. We all have different styles, and everyone can learn then from observation.

We currently have a website under construction which will be revealed at a later date, and imageshack account where we will upload all our sprites and guides to, and an e-mail for anyone to contact us at. So if you sign-up you get access to all of these and we trust you with that information and if you steal it we will report you.

I know some of you reading this thread will be interested in helping us out with this large project, so to sign-up we have some requirements you must meet. These requirements include:

  • You must show us at least 3 different kinds of spriting you can do.
  • Your sprites must be decent, if it is noobish and we think you need to practice more we will not accept you.
  • You must ask if you can join in your post, don't just post sprites.
  • DO NOT sign-up for this unless you are willing to make sprites we don't want to be forcing a user to complete a task.
  • You will be required to create atleast 1 tutorial, unless every kind of spriting you do is already made into a tutorial.
  • You must meet all of these requirements.
  • These requirements may change at any time, and if you don't meet them when they change, and don't post all of it we need, we will tell you to add the missing information.

So far we have a decent amount of sprites collected for a gallery, all of these are on private along with our album. So you can only view them on direct links or on this page. So without further ado here are the sprites:

Current Staff:

We will PM you if we accept your work. If not, we will tell you what you need to improve on. You may post your sprites again once you have improved. You may try as many times as you like to join us, since we need a lot of help. Do not try to join us more than once every 2 days. You need to take your time and improve as much as you can before trying to join us.

LV, I am not going to make you wait the two days but can we see a Recolor without the Animation? I would just like to see a standard one without animation. Thanks!

Welcome to the team Light Venusaur! If I could get one of the other staff members to PM you usernames, and passwords that would be great! squirtli if you don't mind can you do that? I am kinda busy ATM.
 
Is there a tutorial for making actual fakemon sprites?
I really could use the help, due to the fact I am making a fangame and I need to learn how to make sprites....

We will eventually be getting around to a tutorial on making Scratch sprites. Which is exactly what your looking for. We will also have a pixel over tutorial which could also be used to get a basic pose for your sprites after drawing them on paper.

Don't worry that is my area. =) I will take care of that tutorial if you don't mind. Feel free to chose any kind of spriting you want to do though. Aslong as it is not done.
 
This custom sprite tutorial, what if say I don't wanna do Pokémon sprites, but something different. Like a character of mine? I can't make sprites, but I would love to have some of my characters made like that :3

Then you could still apply the same concepts of making a scratch Pokemon Sprite. Some things may change but they are basically use the exact same concept of spriting. Shading will probably be the biggest change. But I guess if we decided to just make it generic, or a two-part tutorial we could include how to scratch Pokemon and then also have one for spriting other objects/life in a part two or a separate tutorial. But the concept does not really change much.

I don't really WANT to be a member, but I'd just like to post this here to see if this is good or not:

It's supposed to be a re/de-vamp of Scizor RSE. I had to change the Platinum devamp a bit since the orangey color on the RSE one looked EXTREMELY weird on the Pt one.

It is decent. The way you have it put together, it is kinda confusing. Maybe just put the devamped sprite?

I really want to learn how to sprite.

(btw, a long time ago, I always got you and LV mixed up lol)

Not much a change in color, except for Platinum being darker than RSE. There is one Pokemon I know has a complete color change, maybe I'll do it next....

42 chocolate, I like them, but there seems to be a blur around all of them. What did you save them as? They need to be saved as PNG.
