TPCi has informed League Organizers that Pokemon Leagues can resume on June 7th in the United States! The announcement was sent via e-mail this morning. Approved Leagues may also host Prerelease events again.
The same announcement was also sent to Organizers in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
Pokemon Leagues and Play! Pokemon events were cancelled in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
Dear Retailers and Professors,
We are delighted to announce that in-person Play! Pokémon League events are planned to resume in USA starting June 7, 2022.
Starting June 7, 2022, Leagues may resume regular League play sessions, and approved Leagues may run in-store Prerelease events.

We still don't have a vetting company in place for new professors or stores
 
This is really a little too late, compared to competition that resumed events almost exactly a year ago.
Not saying that this was the only issue - horrible Standard and first-time player experience do their own job - but TCG players really were starving for something to give them a purpose to play.
