Pokemon cards out nowadays... What's good?

OK, I'm kinda interested in starting the Pokemon card collection again. I dunno which ones are even good though. I think my latest cards are...er.... the Team Rocket era? :D I'm kind of screwed in terms of late cards. What are these Undaunted Unleashed Legend things I see all over the place?! My head hurts! What's "chill" nowadays? Who's considered rigged in the TCG?

OK, so the Legend, Undaunted, and Unleashed things are pretty much the name of a certain kind of card, an era or cards, and a set. Unleashed and Undaunted (along with HGSS and Triumphant) are apart of the "Legend" era, and LEGEND Pokemon are basically a Pokemon that needs to be played with two halves of the card.

The "chill" is basically SP decks and speed decks. SP decks are Basic Pokemon running on the SP engine, so that they can snipe the Bench, control the board, stop Powers, and get fast prizes. Speed decks are what they sound like. They are fast decks.
 
Jesus, this sounds like a bloody foreign language. All that I remember were Pokemon Powers, Trainer cards, and evolutions. I forgot about prize cards and all that. Thanks for clearing up hahaha. I could use some more information as to what card boosters I should try and buy. :)
 
Yeah, like he said.. But here is a little more basic. Undaunted and Unleashed are both different sets. and like he said before LEGEND cards are basically 2 card legendary pokemon cards that do high damage. and he is right about the "chill" part lol. SP are like owners pokemon like Rocket meowth. but they are all basic pokemon. Oh and for boosters you should buy. If you want to make an SP deck, go for Rising Rivals and Supreme Victors. but if you want the newer packs, get Heartgold Soulsiver, Unleashed, and undaunted.
 
Unleashed, Undaunted and Triumphant (when it comes out) are your best options as far as booster boxes go.

Ho boy, I have a lot of stuff to digest. What's the newest rule format? Is there a particular place for that? I think I'm on overload. Hahaha, I got a glimpse of those legend cards. Are those even legal in today's meta?! They're so cheap... and they look cool...
 
well you can look up rules online. Or you can buy a theme deck. Those have basic cards and rules. Undaunted decks also have a bonus pack in them.
 
If you want to know some commonly played decks, http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Deck_archetype_(TCG) is where you can find them. You could start by buying the cards in one off of ebay and buying a LOT of packs (believe me, it's easiest to get started if you have a bunch of cards...) Bulbapedia is the easiest place to find all the info on the TCG, so it should help a lot.
 
A good suggestion is to read deck list's, as in the top one's or just random one's in general, figure out what you want to play then check card set's here on pokebeach and see what you need the most of from what set. Buy a box, get what you need out of it and trade the rest for what you need.
