RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Now that I thought of it I have some changes for the list.

Genosecto is actually not worthy to be banned. Although he has great all around stats, moves, and even an ability I just don't think he's really uber material. He can be countered not to hard in OU thanks to his speed stat let down. That 1 point means Salamence can kill him without any trouble with Fire Blast or Flamethower. Heatran can deal with him well too. However he is a top tier threat no doubt and is quite good. I haven't had to much time to play around with him but I don't think he needs to be banned.

Kerudio also dosen't deserve to be banned. It's good but does have counters in OU. Latias and Latios both can deal with him. Celebi also can easily beat Kerudio if he lacks something like HP Ice or Dark. Currently Same boat as Genosecto though. I just don't think he's really that good to be uber.

Meloetta is also on my borderline but I think he may be just a tad bit to strong. Well the step form at least. The Voice is not uber material.

My two cents.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

I think they are currently banned because they are unreleased.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

There is still Dream World tier which they are used.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Our focus is the metagame that is playable, which does not include those three Pokemon; as a result they are banned.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

I think drizzle should be allowed. All it would is require a team to run a cloud nine pokemon, or a weather changer. Also there is only 1 known pokemon with drizzle from dream world whose stats aren't even high enough to be in OU.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

That's one of the reasons why it is banned. The Pokemon itself is not broken but the ability is. Giving a free boost to a Pokemon's Speed and Power is actually ridiculous in the purest sense of the word. They're almost impossible to stop through its sheer power and speed. While it can be... challenged by another weather changer, the three of them are weak to rain itself, making it hard to switch in. Cloud Nine Pokemon are also weak being only Golduck and Lickilicki, both are not the Pokemon you want to have on a team. Drizzle's presence in the tier is highly negative and disruptive to how a more competitive game should be played. Not being restricted to using a weak Cloud Nine Pokemon or using a Pokemon that can change the weather but can't switch in in the first place!

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

@pride, altaria has CN ability. And since drizzle is banned, why isn't sand stream?

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

For the same reasons Drought isn't banned. Sand Storm in general is powerful but not game breaking. There's not Pokemon in the game that gets double speed and the increase in power during Sand Storm, while there are some powerful abusers of it (looking at Doryuuzu, Landlos, and Garchomp) I don't think its warrant of a ban. Perhaps in the future but at the moment, I don't think its overpowering like Drizzle is.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Imma be brave:

I think Salamence should be considered uber. With overconfidence it can completely wreck teams and has acess to unrealistic power. After one dragon dance a very buliky set can sweep an entire team, and with a Yache berry not even ice shard can stop it.

I'm not gonna go into to much detail or do any calculations as I know most people have an opinion already so I thought I'd just bring it up and see what people think about it.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

If your saying that free stat boosts are ridiculous, then ban sand stream and drought too. There are just as many pokemon that get boosts from sandstorm and sun than there are that get boosts from rain. Also, sandstorm benefits rock/ground/steel pokemon more than rain and sun benefit their types because of the damage it causes and the sp. defence boost.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Do we even have a Pokemon Online server? Otherwise, I do not see the point of this.

Anyway, I completely agree with this list. ^_^

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

@Fridge: While I won't deny Salamence is good, the thing is that Salamence loses Roost if it has Overconfidence as its ability. It is an unlegal combination. Intimidate really seems like it would be better for Salamence because then you can use Roost and also have some protection. Since we aren't banning Latias which checks Mence and Infernape which could check Mence as well, I really see no reason to ban it. Jirachi still speed ties it and depending on EVs could survive a +1 Earthquake.

@AJ1234119: Drought is no where near as powerful as rain. Grass types are the primary Pokemon that are boosted by the weather. They are weak to fire moves which get boosted from the sun, save Ludicolo and Cradily which don't really benefit in the sun anyway. Leaf Guard is certainly not broken in my book. Immunity to status moves is nice, but it doesn't provide any additional support beyond that. Unlike Politoad, Ninetails really doesn't have any bulk to speak of. Sure it has access to Confuse Ray, but nearly every Pokemon can learn Swagger. Nasty Plot does boost its Special Attack, however, Ninetails could easily take a large amount of damage in the turn it uses to set up. It then becomes vulnerable to priority. Facing Solar Beam every Turn isn't really that difficult to get around with the numerous amount of Pokemon that resist it. Heatran murders all grass types and could do quite well against fire Pokemon as well if they don't know a ground move.

Moving on to covering Sandstream ability. Sure the Pokemon get a boost to Special Defense, but one could just as easily use physical attacks. Sand does not power up any move types unlike rain and sun. Sand teams tend to be weak to grass, water, and ice attacks which are quite common. Ice will always be common due to the sheer number of dragon Pokemon and their power. If you are really worried about the mole Pokemon, Swampert is a good answer to it. With its great bulk and access to Surf, it should be able to dish out good damage to it. Earthquake could as well, but I commonly find them holding Balloon.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

@Aj1234119 I agree,if Drizzle is banned then why is Sand Stream not?How is it not banned when many Pokemon can take advantage of this and setup right away while the others who have drizzle or drought now need to use Rain Dance/Sunny Day and by that time the opponent would already have done serious damage to the point of when you cannot setup right away. Why isn't Tyranitar banned? He could easily take advantage of sand stream.

EDIT:This question I previously made is now irrelevant. As it has been answered in past post.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Do we even have a Pokemon Online server? Otherwise, I do not see the point of this.

We do not have a server but we need something to reference for tournaments and events, which is why this list was created rather then the tiers Smogon has. Several members have been asking for one until Smogon has a tier list without such obvious ubers.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Update:

We now have a Pokemon Online server.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

How would you do those?
Anyway, the server's great. It's really comfortable to battle with guys you know and can talk to instead of a server with hundreds of weirdos. Great job on the banlist, too, although I'm sad to see drizzle banned.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

You just type /attack [person] to attack someone and /catch to catch a random Pokemon. If you are really lucky, you might even catch a shiny Pokemon.

RE: PokeBeach's Official Ban List

Example of the Attack Command:
Code:
(19:46:23) AttackBot: TheDarkLucario has attacked [blank] with Discharge!
To perform, simply enter /attack name

Example of the Catch Command:
Code:
(19:46:26) CaptureBot: TheDarkLucario has caught a Goldeen with a Calm nature!
(19:46:26) CaptureBot: Goldeen has the following IVs:
(19:46:26) CaptureBot: HP: 8 Atk: 30 Def: 22 SpA: 0 SpD: 23 Spe: 8.
To perform, simply enter /catch

For a list of more commands, enter /commands

All of the commands are nifty. Even the Censor system is nifty:
Code:
(19:49:29) CensorBot: TheDarkLucario has just cursed.
(19:49:29) Punishmentbot: TheDarkLucario's punishment is to have the names of each of his/her current Pokemon revealed.
(19:49:29) TeamBot: Nattorei Chansey Burungeru Murkrow Erufuun Heatran.

Another Example:
Code:
(19:51:13) CensorBot: batui4 has just cursed.
(19:51:13) PunishmentBot: batui4 has been muted for 2 minutes for this.
