Hey, I thought this would be really fun. I've seen it on another forum before.

So like, we would have a couple people nominated for a certain thing, like best newbie, best artist, best mod, etc. and the people would vote for who they think should get the award.

My questions

1. Would it be allowed? If not, why?
2. Would YOU be interested?
3. What would be some ideas for the topics that people would win? I mean the stuff mentioned in the second paragraph in the post.

It wouldn't work because there would be a lot of flaming and madness. It has been brought up several times before.

This would end up being a spam-contest.
It would also be corrupted by whoever the 'popular' posters are. They would always win.

Personally, I've enjoyed this on Smogon, and would love to see it here if everyone votes me as best for everything.

Hyperbeem uses Future Sight and discovers a flame war of epic proportions. It's a cool idea, we just have to make sure there isn't a flame war type thing after the results are out. I guess I am interested, and I hope we can actually do this cleanly. The thing is, we have to make sure the results actually mean something, I mean if I get fifty friends to vote me for best battler it doesn't really mean anything.

If you can tell people why this is important, as well as proposing a solution for the problems I discussed, this should work out well. It's just going to be tough.

If you have an idea you wanna propose, I'd suggest filling in the details and then asking us if we'd be interested, not asking us if we'd be interested and then asking us to think of details on our own. If you can't think of details to convince us on the idea, then why are you proposing the idea?

Proposing an idea is not 1-2 sentence of "hey how about we do this and that" and expecting something fruitful to come out of it. I can assure you the worst case scenario will be that it gets rejected on the spot and the best case scenario is nobody takes the suggestion seriously.

As Azelf Master stated above it has been brought up several times before. We do not plan on doing anything like this. If you have a convincing argument as to why we should do it then maybe we will consider it. You may PM anything further on this to myself or another Super Moderator.
