Contest PokéPoetry! IX: Poets Strike Back (Congratulations, VioletValkyrie!)

I've added randomized Pokemon for all of the contestants. @Nyan you still haven't chosen a style, but since I didn't realize and remind until this morning I'll give you until tomorrow night to choose something.

I used a simple random generator minus mega evolutions, so there wasn't any bias going in.

except the ninjas

If there are signups before midnight, I'll have to add you later because I'll be gone the rest of tonight. If there are any questions from here on, please let me know. You're free to post your entry from now to the end date, but don't vote until that phase begins!

Good luck, everyone!

Ok, I’ll start it off.

Light Will Never Fade (Kartana)

Admire it’s sharpness,
fear it’s blade.
Watch the mighty Kartana begin to reign.

As harmless as a Magikarp,
As strange as an Unown,
Soon different information may be found.

As Buzzwole,
Xurkitree, and Pheromosa bow down,
Ultra Necrozma pledges to regain the crown.

Kartana’s reign of terror,
scares almost all,
but Naganadel are determined to make Kartana fall.

Kartana’s sharp blade,
slices through the Ultra Space.
If you want to hide, you cannot find a place.

Just as things
start to look grim,
the horrible darkness will start to un-dim.

Seeing an army of Naganadel,
backed by Ultra Necrozma,
Kartana will try to escape to Unova.

The Naganadels
refuse to break their vow.
They catch Kartana and now it’s helpless as a cow.

After the light
started to return,
all the Ultra Beasts began to learn that,

You shouldn’t admire it’s sharpness,
you shouldn’t fear it’s blade.
Because in the end, the light will never fade.

-NaganadelIsBeast

This is probably really bad. But anyways, hope someone likes it.

Morning breaks out over the lands of Kalos, bathing
All the land in the sun’s warm light.
Really, though, the most beautiful sight of this scene is the Pokémon in it. This field, now bathed in light, is home to a herd of the
Ever-docile Mareep.
Even as the sun rises, these calm, fluffy little pillows of Pokémon are just beginning to come out of their nightly slumber.
Perhaps we should follow them around.

T
ruly, the lazy Mareep’s day is usually standard and routine. They hunt and forage, eat, nap, and repeat. They have fun while doing it, though. Unless, of course, they
Happen to be disturbed by a passerby. That’s when the comfortable, content life of a Mareep gets
Exciting to write about.

S
uddenly as the explosions that seem to rise out of forests whenever Ash is around,
Humans gather near the field, their
Eyes hungry for a Mareep in their Pokéballs.
Eventually, as is always, the Mareep, being
Pokemon, succumbs to the comforts of the ball, not that much different than the field they live in, and continue to lead their basic, lazy lives. Until, of course, a passerby meets the trainer directly in the eye. You know what happens then.
Eh. It’s okay.

Extraterrestrial Infatuation

It was an ordinary day in Ultra Space
Everything out of whack, everything out of place
Bustling light connecting here to there
Nebulous Cosmog everywhere

Nihilego is napping with another new friend
Guzzlord is guzzling up comets again
Blacephalon is bouncing its head on the ground
Kartana is folding and floating around

I flex and I flex as I do so well
My muscles are massive, as you can tell
But as I began to stretch out my four legs
Something had stolen my attention instead

Swift as a specter but white as a star
Someone was watching me from afar
A level of elegance I had never seen
Perhaps this thing is more elegant than me?

My red eyes met blue but then after that
It vanished before I could show off my lats
"Come back!" I buzzed, but to no reply
The gorgeous ghost already wished me good-bye

My, what a creature! We would be such a pair!
Quintessential brawn and beauty - everyone would stare!
Ultra Necrozma would be jealous...Solgaleo would be too
Stakataka would stop stacking to look at me and you

So in the Jungle I will stay, perfecting my craft
If my muscles brought you to me, they will bring you back
With you by my side...oh what a dream
Pheromosa, I hope we could work as a team

Azelf

Did you see that little blue hell-fish?
It seemed so incredibly selfish!
And I feel so determined!
But if asked to confirm, then
I might say it looks, well ... Azelf-ish!

Apologies for quietness, I just finished my last semester finals this week.

Entries are looking great so far! For those of you who haven't submitted yet, you still have plenty of time. Sometime Saturday night we will move onto the voting phase, and by Tuesday we will crown our PB poet.

For those of you who are already voting and liking posts (which is fine), keep in mind that you're limited to three votes max (and please don't switch them around after casting). It would be best to keep your votes until all submissions are present!

Outside spectators are encouraged to participate as well!

I've taken all my likes off since I didn't realise that's how we're voting, for the record~

I feel the magnetic field tonight
The time for evolution is finally upon us
I can already see the light
Enveloping our bodies and getting rid of what's superfluous

An old man stopped us along the way
Asking us to go on some quest with something he called "Pokédex"
We looked at him as if to say
"Sorry man, we're just a Magneton!"

It's gonna take a lot to keep me away from you
The sun, the stars, erroneous maps we can use as clues
To find our way to Mount Coronet
And finally become our perfect form, Magnezone (ooh, ooh)
It's only the first bit of the song but it all just repeats itself anyway. :p

Is this going to happen again? I couldn’t do it this time but if it does, I’m totally signing up.

This is awesome. If I had a song, I would do Havana by Camilla Cabello. Kartana ooh nah nah...

I’m gonna vote for this.

@Zero Umbreon As long as there's demand, I could see another round happening soon :) stay tuned for some other Creative Works ideas coming soon™ too

an untroubled heart
(Flabébé)

Some days,
when the dark closes in,
I like to go and visit
that field of flowers
over by the river.
And on some days,
I can see
the fairies come and play.

I like to watch them
flit from flower to flower,
closely considering
the merits of each.
Then, when they find one
that is to their preference,
they take it
and make it their own.

I wonder,
what is it like to have
such a carefree nature?
Could I too, one day,
serenely stroll amongst
those flowers I admire so much?

Yet the pristine scene before me
seems untouchable, almost.
As if I would destroy the beauty
if I even tried to reach out.
And so I just watch.

Taking no notice
of me and my turbulent thoughts,
the fairies continue on untroubled
until each has found a flower.
Then, their business done,
they cheerfully abandon
this field of flowers.

As the Flabébé flutter away,
I take a deep breath,
then begin to leave.
But I cannot help
looking back
for one last glance.
The fairies,
shadowed by the setting sun,
play happily in the distance.

Over by the river,
there is a bed of flowers.
Sometimes, if you are lucky,
you can see
those playful flower sprites
that love to lift spirits.

One last reminder as poets are finishing up their entries (due tomorrow!): if it's not obvious in the title or first few words what Pokemon your poem is about, I'd suggest providing a message or image beforehand for some context! It makes it easier to distinguish/imagine everything when first reading the poem.

Get your entries in before the end of tomorrow night! The voting phase will begin after my next posting (so long as there aren't questions).

A Donkey in the Dex
Mudbray, the Donkey Pokémon and the pre-evolved form of Mudsdale.
What is it's nature?
Stubborn and active,
A lot like me actually.
It plays it's days away in the mud,
Eating the dirt we stand on.
Don't be fooled by it's short height of a single meter,
For it can carry five and a half thousand kilograms with ease.
It's legs pack quite a kick,
Although it won't learn Mega Kick until level fourty-three.
A beautiful Pokémon it is but,
What's this?
Level thirty!
It's evolving!
Quick,
Press B!

I originally had an original song planned and it was pretty rushed, almost like a song demo, but it focused too little on Shuckle and too much on its owner. So I had to rework the song. The final submission was really only done like uhh, over the last 2 days, so please have mercy :(

It's pretty much almost a complete syllable-for-syllable swap of Lee Brice's I Drive Your Truck, save maybe 1 or 2 words, so I won't be providing any recorded vocals on this one. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not very satisfied with it but I've gotta submit something anyway, so here goes!

Actual song:

Karaoke version:
Just Fight Your Fight (Shuckle)

5 miles of dirt in a road race
Ninjask, he’s done since you started crawling at your own pace
Just half a mile done in a day
You ain’t even in his rear view
You don’t care, cuz you’ll finish this race in a week or two
Even in the rain
Your feet just ain’t as speedy, but that’s alright
You could just go slow and steady
Deep into the night

Just fight your fight
No one dares to take you down, you’ll be alright
With a sturdy shell this round
Cuz when you’re last, they’ll walk right past
They’ll never know what you do best
Pay no mind, just fight your fight

They laugh when you try punching
They know that your Stone Edge ain’t do nothing
Yet on the contrary
They don’t know what’s tougher than bricks
Or getting lulled into another Power Trick
They’ll never ever believe
And you love to offer something, and it’s your Berry Juice
If they should decline, then that choice will be theirs to lose

Just fight your fight
No one dares to take you down, you’ll be alright
With a sturdy shell this round
Cuz when you’re last, they’ll walk right past
They’ll never know what you do best
Pay no mind, just fight your fight

Through rain and sun, or spring and fall
The test of time, you’ve seen it all
You’ve stepped up and you’ve answered the call

Just fight your fight
No one dares to take you down, you’ll be alright
With a sturdy shell this round
Cuz when you’re last, they’ll walk right past
They’ll never know what you do best
Pay no mind, just fight your fight

Just fight your fight
Just fight your fight
You just tough it out, yeah tough it out
Just fight your fight

p.s. idk whether anyone here loves country music, especially more modern ones that the old folks call "pop" music but please give it a shot!

So writing anything that really drew out Simisage’s most notable attributes was kinda tough, so I decided to try a different approach instead. :p

Poor Simisage

Poor Simisage doesn’t get much love,
Like a lot of Pokémon from Gen 5.
Along with the monkeys whom you get in the Dreamyard,
It’s very much attention deprived.

If you’re looking for a Pokémon that will be strong in battles,
You’d probably best look away
Other than strong Grass moves it gets Focus Blast,
which you’re lucky to hit once a day.

Sure, it’s fast, but it’s frail and it’s weak
and thus it’s easily forgotten.
If you’re looking for Grass types in Unova,
Look for the ones made of cotton.

You could argue that Simisage is at least unique:
“A grass monkey’s one of a kind!”
But now that Grookey is joining the fray,
To Simisage we will stay blind.

So press F in the thread to pay your respects
For the forgotten monkey Simisage.
For it has lost the only title it’s ever owned
As we march with Grookey towards the new age.

Time

Once, on a beach
A simple treasure
One fragment was what held us together

A dream
One coward with a dream
His bravery was what carried us through

Through our hardships
Our pain
Our fear

Deception, distrust, and danger
Lurked around every corner

From the brightest forest
To the darkest abyss

All because time
had been stolen under our very eyes

And his bravery was what carried us through
My pride in him cannot match
His love for me

His love for a small
confused
amnesiac little Riolu
with a dark past throwing him into danger at every moment

But his bravery was what carried us through
To the end

Through a teary-eyed farewell
As that sacrifice
Of an old partner
An old friend
Could not be in vain

Through a fight against a god
Driven mad
But time
Was supposed to heal all wounds

But back on the path towards home
All I realized was
My newly filled heart
Would begin to bleed, to empty

I can't stand to leave you.

And if I really could see the future

I would never

Want this day

To end.

I don't want to say goodbye.

I'm very happy I got Riolu as my prompt. I hope to god you know what this poem was inspired by.

Midnight Assassination (Greninja)

Outside the pitch-black room where cobwebs rest,
My prey lies still, unknowing of their fate.
Though my webbed hands hold throwing stars the best
Outside, the pitch-black room where cobwebs rest
Conceals the true intentions for my quest,
A Night Slash that will surely devastate.
Outside the pitch-black room where cobwebs rest,
My prey lies, still unknowing of their fate.
