So I just saw the new Pokemon movie: Pokemon Archdjinni of the rings of Hoopa in Japan and I thought it was pretty good. I will talk about the movie and my opinions on it so if you really don't want to know what happens, then I suggest you do not read this thread.

Note: This may not be 100% accurate (maybe 85-95%) So don't count too much on this

I am going to mention my (sort of) disappointments first. First of all the first few trailers of this movie were misleading. The trailers show most of the Legendary Pokemon fighting in an all out brawl; in fact the trailers said that it was "Legend VS. Legend". Unfortunately that wasn't really the case (80-90% of the footage of the first few trailers weren't even in the movie). The movie had two sides fighting. The two sides were Ash, Pikachu, Hoopa, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, and Mega Rayquaza VS. Hoopa Unbound and his gang of possessed legendaries (Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Black/White Kyurem, Giratina, Palkia, and Dialga). I was really anticipated to see Arceus and Lugia in the new movie but to me personally, they didn't have enough screen time. Lugia was summoned by Hoopa to fight Hoopa Unbound (HU) in the first part of the fight. After a few minutes of fighting, Lugia saves Ash and Pikachu and lets them ride on him but gets defeated by HU; and that it for Lugia. Arceus was mentioned a few times through out the movie and I was really excited to see what Arceus was going in the new movie. He does defeat HU and the end but was only shown on screen for a few minutes. Another Part of I was Anticipated for was Evil Ash. In the trailers, it shows Ash catching a bottle and he turns Evil so it looks like this could be a big deal. In the movie, Ash turns Evil for a several seconds and Hoopa turns him back to normal. And last, just like some of the other Pokemon movies, out of all of the trainers on the world, why does the cute little legendary Pokemon always target Ash? Does he have something special that the others trainers don't have?

And now, for my favorite parts. Just like the other movies, the prologue sets you in the right mood. It shows Hoopa Unbound terrorizing a town many years ago it gets to the point where HU can get kind of scary. A man shows up with a special bottle and traps HU in it. Another part I liked was Hoopa's backstory. Even though I don't understand Japanese, I will try to tell what I can understand. Many years ago, people in a village were making food, HU was hungry so he decided to eat the food. The villagers got angry so HU payed them with large amounts of money. After that the villagers worship as a god (your gonna have to watch the movie to understand it). The best part of the movie were the action scenes+climax. When it got to the part where is was Ash against HU, things got really intense. Many explosions, many buildings getting destroyed, and so much tension.

That's all of the good points I can remember right now. Even though it looks like I have more bad points than bad points, that doesn't mean the movie is suck, and besides those were my opinion. All in all, Pokemon Archdjinni of the rings of Hoopa great movie to watch. Seeing many legendary Pokemon all in the same movie was one of the coolest things to see on the big screen.

Yeah I figured that the movie would have only a small amount of screen time per legendary, especially as most of them weren't the main focus of the movie.

None of the things you mentioned being surprised or disappointed by are surprises to me, so I guess I'll be okay. :p Thanks for sharing! I'm glad you thought overall that it was a good movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it myself. :D

Was hoping Hoopa would be smarter and just summon Mewtwo, but then again the movie would have been really short if it did. I enjoyed it though, as was stated Arceus should have had a bigger role. All in all it was fun watching the legendaries show up and was kind of amusing watching Hoopa play pranks and be a goof ball (although the obligatory pokemon feels moment was a bit cheesy).
