Pokémon Rose Version

Introduction:​

The Centiq (/sĕn-tēk/) region, a place whose history runs deep. Explore new routes, cities, and caves in Pokémon Rose Version! A year has passed since a young Pokémon trainer from Kanto defeated Team Rocket and became the Pokémon League Champ; likewise in the Hoenn region, a young trainer there put an end to Team Aqua and Team Magma's plans and defeated Hoenn's Pokémon League Champion.

Why has Team Rocket shown up in the Centiq region? What is the organization known as Thrasher and what is their goal? Could it have something to do with The Emerald Tablet, a mythical artifact believed to be hidden within the Centiq region? The answers to these questions and more await you in Pokémon Rose Version!

Story:​

Play as either Aster or Rose. Your day begins with your mother greeting you and suggesting you read the morning paper. It tells of Professor Larch's return after his visit with Professor...

Oh! It appears the page has been torn. Your mother asks you which Professor it could possibly be, based on three she knows--namely, Professors Oak, Elm, and Birch.

After speaking with your mother, you talk with Professor Larch. You will find him outside, enjoying the fresh Centiq air he missed so much. He takes you to his lab, where your long time friend, Allen, is waiting. Professor Larch offers you one out of three Pokémon he received from the Professor he spoke with when he traveled abroad.

With your new partner by your side, Allen challenges you to a battle with his Machop. Your first battle commences, beginning your journey as a Pokémon trainer!

Progress:​

Mapping: About 95% done. There are only two more dungeons later in the game that are left to be made, in addition to a few secret areas which will be released in the future. All towns, routes, and caves are complete.

Scripting: This has not yet been started. Help in this area would be appreciated.

Spriting: Again, very little progress has been made here.

Text/Header/Intro: These things have yet to be modified.

In so many words I can describe that I need help with this game when it comes to areas I have thusfar had little experience with.

Once I have the game scripted up to a point, there will be a beta release. I plan to work in this fashion from there on: Add scripts, release a patch; add more scripts, release another patch.

Black Rayquaza (a member of PokéBeach): He made the Banner above for this game. In the future, he will be creating another version of this.
Xous (another member of PokéBeach): He is in the process of taking my crude, pencil-sketched map and translating it into a beautiful, DP-style map. It will surely be a thing to behold once it's finished.

And that is all who is contributing to it for now. Again, I am looking for any help or guidance I can get when it comes to scripting events, creating sprites, adding music, and so on. If you want to help, tell me!

Interesting. Hoping to see more in the future, but for now, I love the town names. Springate seems to just roll off the tongue, haha. The mapping so far looks great, I'm very impressed. I wish I could help you out, but I'm not skilled with any of the positions you're seeking. I will be following this game and am hoping to play the first beta once it's released. Great job, Bela.

Though what do you need scripting for? The menus?

This was done as mostly a gimmick; this thread hasn't always been my rom hack (it was some other thread I posted a long time ago that I just edited over).

While I have only been working on this rom hack since April, meaning it's been close to 7 months, everything you see in the thread is actually very recent.

In truth though, the concept of this game has existed even before this thread was originally posted, so it actually fits being a thread from 2006.

I'm kind of on the same page as Zyflair with things. I can setup basic things, and I've taken about 2 weeks of a class that teaches this stuff. What kind of stuff would I need to do?

Well, if you understand what is going on here, then I would hope that means we can work together on scripts.

The Pokécommunity has a thread or two about scripting (there's actually several) that you can look at for more information about scripting in general.

The first script I will need is one which involves a dialogue between the player and his mom (as the "Story" section implies).

EDIT: And for those of you wanting to know, that's the script where Oak stops you from leaving Pallet Town without a Pokémon.

BTW, do you have a BGM composer? I have experience with Finale Notepad 2008 and I'd be more than happy to upload a few demonstrations (don't use them though).
