What is the best program for scratch spriting? Would it be photoshop, paint.net, etc? Just wondeing, thanks ;)

Most people just use Paint (the standard on that comes with your laptop/computer).

I've been trying to use that, but it doesn't come with the certain effects that I want. Remember, I don't want to do fusions, but instead scratches from, well... scratch :p! Photoshop I know offers some of those things, but I was wondering if its really worth it?

Scratch spriting needs only one tool, the pencil tool. You can get that on any program. I use paint and so do most people.

I use paint for scratching too, its easy and efficient, don't bother with fancy effects.

Fireworks is more advanced than Paint, but less advanced than Photoshop (and it works on a more pixel-by-pixel and vector side). I'd suggest it if you want transparent or animated gifs. Otherwise, Paint should work. Just be patient. Scratching isn't an easy task.

I would always say Paint.net because it is sharper than paint with its tools and it does provide some good effects and if you make a mistake you can go strait back to the beginning if you want!

for scratch spriting you don't use effects though, you just draw and fill. Paint is easist for this; no distractions.

MS Paint is the best for spriting, but you can also use gimp, although it's not as good as Paint.
