Explore your roots! This network is designated for those interested in battling using only the first generation of pokemon cards. This includes all the cards from the Base Set all the way up through the Gym Challenge set, and all promo cards that existed before the first Neo release. For those of you who have never battled with these sets, or those who haven't done so in years, I think you'll find it refreshing, and even somewhat challenging. The card dynamics have changed a lot since these cards fell out of play, and deck building strategies are likely to be very different. So open up your deck builder, scroll way down to those sets you've never even used before, build a deck, and come join us!
Some ground rules:
* Please be courteous. For the most part, I will not issue consequences for using cards outside of the above sets. Please try to refrain from this, however, as it violates the spirit of the league.
(i.e. If you pull out a chikorita, I don't foresee any real problems. However, if you are regularly owning people by stacking your decks with cards from HG&SS, you will look like something of a jerk, and if it happens enough, and people complain, you might get your name on the wall of shame.)
* Once things start filling up, I would ask that you remove yourself from the network when you are not on your computer or when you know you won't be looking for a battle for an extended period of time. This network is not an exclusive club, and you don't have a reserved spot; it is intended to be easy-come, easy-go. If it gets to a point at which the network is regularly full and leaving it would cause you to "lose your place," I will try to make sure that additional networks open up to accommodate the traffic.
* If you would like to join us, please just say so below. The network itself is intended to be easy-come easy-go, but it's nice to have a record of who's on board.
* Please don't build a deck around Mr. Mime. I personally don't mind if you have one or two in your deck, but this card was removed from tournament play early on because it gives players an unfair advantage. Feel free to use him sparingly. Don't be cheap.
