I am pretty new to the whole competitive battling scene. I got into it with X and Y. I have learned quite a bit, but I still run into problems with team building. Here is a team I have built and need some help with changing things. One thing for sure is I need a defog user or rapid spinner. I am new to these forums as well, as this is my first posting. Any and all help is appreciated and thank you in advance!

Shuckle @ Mental Herb
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Sticky Web
- Encore
- Toxic
- Rock Tomb
My typical lead to set up sticky web and and support my team. I have seen success with it, but then again, I am not 100% confident in his ability besides that and a toxic stall.

Charizard (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
My favorite pokemon ever and main sweeper. Cant be will-o-wisped and can set up and destroy teams. I chose fire punch since I decided against roost. I chose earthquake for heatran. The last thing I want is to set up with dragon dance and get walled by heatran.

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Pursuit
My fairy killer. With fairies running wild this generation, I needed something to destroy them. Also, everyone and their brother has a Landorus-T. With defiant, I get a boost to help kill everything. Sucker punch is for more power. Pursuit for ghost types who try to escape.

Gengar @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Def / 30 SpD / 30 Spe
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Thunderbolt
- Sludge Bomb
Gengar is a special wall breaker. With such amazing stats and type coverage, I had to choose him for this team. He does well against many things that I found threatening. Sableye with the fairy weakness is the reason for dazzling gleam.

Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Rock Slide
- Mach Punch
- Facade/ice punch
I have played with this slot a lot and I am most willing to swap conk out for something to help support my team. He takes special attacks like a beast with assault vest and full spD investment. However, talonflame is a gigantic problem for him. This is the reason for rock slide. Most of the time I try to predict the timing of the switch, but sometimes it ends up an over-prediction that I regret.

Nidoking @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Surf
I love choice scarf nidoking! he has such a good type coverage with his moves. This takes care of so many threats. Fairies, fire, ground, flying, rock, dragons, etc. This guy is the bomb!
