Standard My Water Deck (Anti-Reshizard)

So my friend got me into Pokemon in November 2019-ish. I bought the Kyogre deck for the sole reason of Piplup. But that theme deck has almost vanished. No piplups. No kyogres. And no Pyukumyukus. I defeat him all the time. Unless he has a weakness guard on somebody like Reshizard and Charizard & Braixen. He runs Welder. We have a local tournament every Saturday at a card place near our neighborhood. I usually get 2nd or 3rd place. He almost always get first place.

this deck looks a lot like a lapras vmax deck.

I dont see the need for your quagsires. they seem to have the sole purpose to charge up your lopuff. I would recommend cutting them for some more consistency cards.

speaking of consistency, lets look at your engine.

X2 Cynthia (UPR 119)
X1 Mallow & Lana (CEC 198)
X3 Misty & Lorelei (CEC 199)
X2 Cynthia & Caitlan (CEC 189)
X2 Marnie (SSH 169)
X1 Crasher Wake (FLI 104)
X2 Acro Bike (CLS 123a)
X1 Cyrus Prism Star (ULR 120)
X2 Energy Retreival (SUM 116)
X2 Switch Raft (DRM 62)
X1 Eneporter (FLI 106)
X2 Pokemon Communications (TEU 152)
X3 Chaotic Swell (CEC 187)
X1 Ordinary Rod (SSH 171)
X2 Tag Call (CEC 206)
X1 Air Balloon (SSH 156)

There are a few interesting things here. First of all, there are absolutely no 4-count cards here. also, I see things such as misty and lorlei. I recommend cutting all of those for more search cards. I dont see a single quick ball. Eneporter is a spicy tech for the weakguard energy, i see, but it doesnt seem very neccesary. we can cut all these cards for 4 quick ball.

-3 misty lorlei
-1 eneporter

+4 quick ball

Another thing i see is a jumble of draw supporters. 2 cynthia, 2 cynthia caitlyn, 2 marnie, and a crasher wake. Some of these seem to be suboptimal draw spporters, and some are just bad. we can replace these with professors research and more cynthia. While we are here, lets get rid of some excess energy.

-2 cynthia caitlyn
-2 marnie
-1 crasher wake
-2 weakguard energy
-1 water energy

+2 cynthia
+4 professors research
+2 acro bike

now lets see our new draw engine:

X4 Cynthia (UPR 119)
X4 Professor's Research
X4 Quick Ball
X4 Acro Bike (CLS 123a)
X1 Mallow & Lana (CEC 198)
X1 Cyrus Prism Star (ULR 120)
X2 Energy Retreival (SUM 116)
X2 Switch Raft (DRM 62)
X2 Pokemon Communications (TEU 152)
X3 Chaotic Swell (CEC 187)
X1 Ordinary Rod (SSH 171)
X2 Tag Call (CEC 206)
X1 Air Balloon (SSH 156)

this is looking better already.

Lets start working on pokemon. First off, pipstoise does not hit for much damage. If you are looking to play a chonky lad, look no further than lapras vmax! 340 hp is a lot lol. its also a pretty good attacker, so we can get rid of keldeos, mega lopuff, and pipstiose. Because all of the attachment targets are water type, we can cut the quags now too.

-2 pipstoise
-2 keldeo v
-2 woop
-2 quag
-lopuff

+3 lapras v
+3 lapras vmax
+1 snom
+1 frosmoth
+1 trainer card

Now that we have more trainer slots, lets clean those up some. Mallow and Lana is pretty good, as we are playing the chonkiest of boyes with 340 hp, and we want to keep him alive as long as possible. Tag call is not very good here now, as the only tag team you are running now is mallow and lana. Cyrus prism is too inconsistent to be worth it, and you might randomly discard it too. Chaotic swell is outclassed by viridian forest here, because you want as much energy on lapras as possible. Something you do need is more pokecomms to get our frosmoth out. Another card that you want to put in is more air balloon and switch raft, because frosmoth only attaches to the bench now. Some gusting effects would be great too.

-3 chaotic swell
-2 tag call
- cyrus prism

+2 viridian forest
+2 great catcher
+1 switch raft
+1 mallow lana
+1 air balloon (blank trainer card slot from earlier)

this all should bring us to our final decklist! lets see what it looks like

X3 Lapras V
