Anyone have any good ideas on what to do since I can't get it fixed right now and don't have the cash to get a new DS? My cat pushed it onto the floor a couple of days ago and now the top screen flickers since it does not have th hinge stopper on the first or 2nd adjustments and instead flips all the way open without any catchers catching it and I know for a fact there are wires in the fold bar inside and when it opens too far the top screen flickers now and is pretty hard to avoid it from flickering too since when I play it sometimes moves and flicks the screen. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Ahh, it happened to me, i hit it against a wall when it was in my pocket, my solution was to take it to a place called game fix, obviously, you have to pay money, only way i can help sorry.

How much did it cost? If it is not a whole lot I might be able to get it fixed. Thanks.:) They way I would do it though is mail it to Nintendo and is it cheaper than buying a new DS which I am trying to avoid right now XD. Thanks.:)

ive gone through 2 ds's this way lol (the old fat one and then a lite) i just delt with it. you can get it positioned most of the time so it doesnt do that. just dont trya nd fix it yourself or take anything out....it dies forever...:(

I would not even think to take it apart so the top screen will not short out or will not get shut off overtime? I am wondering because if the top screen dies then I will not be able to see to play the game anymore XD. That is what I am wondering actually. Thanks.:) It is hard not to have it go all the way back though XD. That is the part that worries me ATM though.:)

i have found that ds's are actually really really durable. it wont die unless you mess with it to much. mine was like yours is now for a year and a half so it should last till you can A get a new one or B get it fixed or C get a 3DS if you are getting one.

I wish for option C XD but sadly no. Oh good and no I don't mess with it for too much. I try to hold the hinge in place while I move it but sometimes I am not able to. Thanks. I need other opinions too and any price costs to get it fixed XD. Thanks. If it is cheaper than a new DS I might just get it fixed.:)

If I can recomend much Cheaper way than getting it fixed or putting hinge back in place - DS Lite Crystal Case!

Trick is that DS fits that Crystal case very nicely and DS itself becomes imobile. So it's completely in Case - Hinge cannot do further damage.
If I knew this earlier, my DS touch screen woulnd't be in negative...

But anyway trust me in this one, it really works! And about the price... I bought mine for around 10€.

Also when i got it fixed, the person said it's DS's most common thing that people try to fix, I'm sure there should be some gamespot forums that should know the answer, i forgot how much it was sorry.

Yeah, I had this issue with my previous two DS's too (on which the hinges eventually broke after years of repetitive opening/closing). All I did was super glue the hinge back onto the R-button. I couldn't use the R-button after that (and, on my second system I later ended up having to reglue it so that hinge was fixed open), but sufficed until I was able to get a new system. The only other alternative I could recommend would be looking into buying a used DS system.

dmaster out.

My DS lite turned out the exact same way, all I have to say is if you don't get it fixed the left hinge will have too much pressure on it and eventually snap. SuperGlue seems to be the correct way to go, however if you can find an electronics repair store anywehere around that would be the best place to go.
The best solution seems to be Gouka-no-Goukazaru's (wtf?) solution.

So All I need to do is super glu the hinge back together? I hope this idea works. I thought of tape though.:)

EDIT: I think I have my hinge fixed for now. I slipped one of those platic bread ties into the gap between the parts next to the lights and seems to be working and if it breaks I can get another since we buy bread all the time XD.:)
