Yeah apparently this game was so violent it was banned in Australia. Care to elaborate?

What? I'm not a fan of the series, but I've had fun playing and old version it on my families PS3, and I'm shocked that it would be banned, what's so bad in this installment?
Supposedly The Rating company in Australia is reviewing the game and may amend the ruling to AO purchase. Which means if I am not mistaken only those technically 21+ will be able to purchase it. That is just my understanding of the recent news on this. My information maybe wrong but i have been following releases like this for awhile.

I guess it really isn't too much of a shocker that a Mortal Combat game got banned, they are fairly violent, especially the Fatalities or whatever they are called, the first time i saw one of those in an older game, it involved someone, um... losing their spine in a violent manner... The exact detail on why the game got banned in Australia though, I couldn't tell you.

I'm really not surprised, since Aussie is really uptight about violent games. Also, it sounds like y'all haven't seen game footage of it, go watch some and you'll see why they might ban it or whatever.
