Hi, I have recently started the TCG and being a fan of Steel type Pokémon in general I thought id try and make a competitive Metal type deck, any suggestions are welcome, even if it is suggested taking another steel/metal route.

POKEMON - 17

4 Metagross GX
4 Beldum
3 Metang
3 Tapu Lele GX
2 Dusk Mane Necrozma GX
1 Alolan Vulpix

TRAINERS - 33

4 Cynthia
3 Guzma
2 N
2 Professor Sycamore
2 Brigette
1 Skyla
4 Ultra Ball
3 Rare Candy
3 Field Blower
3 Max Potion
2 Choice Band
2 MT. Coronet
1 Rescue Stretcher
1 Professors Letter

ENERGY - 10

1 Psychic
9 Metal

That is the current list, I am also thinking about adding Solgaleo Prism, 4th Max Potion and a 3rd MT. Coronet.

Due to Metagross being vulnerable to ability lock I thought Solgaleo and MT. Coronet could help.

You want four Sycamore and at least 3 N. N and Sycamore are still much better than Cynthia for a few reasons, but I'll start with Sycamore.
Aggressive draw support is only good, and carries you a long way. And because you play high card counts of almost everything, you don't mind discarding cards, and you actually WANT energy in the discard pile, because that's Energy you can grab with Metagross and My Coronet. I actually do suggest dropping a Dusk Mane for Solgaleo◇. With a Band it does 190, it goes past Ability lock, and Dusk Mane is not, or at least, should not, be the main attacker of the deck. It's a good obe-of to take big OHKOs, but I wouldn't call it a solid 2-of. I would also be playing 3 Choice Band. You really can't afford to not be doing a lot of damage with Metagross and decks do still play Field Blower, so only 2 copies won't take you too far.
Oh I almost forgot about N. Yeah, N being disruptive, and at the same time being draw power is super cool, and because Metagross is such a slow deck, You'll be drawing 6 for the first 3 turns at least. I would not even question playing at least 3 in Metagross, or almost any other standard deck for that matter. It's way too good, and all the super famous players have made statements on this point, too. Cynthia's too good to pass up, but it replaces nothing, it's just extra support . Think of it like Colress. It's strong in itself, so why should it or another card replace each other? If you're not familiar with what Colress does, it's an older card that rotated a couple years ago that shuffles your hand into your deck and let's you draw a card for each benched Pokemon in play. I know N and Sycamore don't seem great in the eyes of a newer player, but trust me, they're super good, and Cynthia added is even better. Good luck on your deck!
