MK8 will also be released for 3DS, can't wait! If there's a game that rivals Pokemon for Nintendo it is Mario Kart, if it becomes wi-fi for 3DS it'd be amazing!

MK8 will be Wii U exclusive, I think your thinking of Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS.
& ya MK series alone is huge, I'm sure a lot of people will get the console specifically for MK8!

I don't know where you heard that, but MK8 is for the WiiU only, not 3DS. Smash Bros. is coming to both.

King Boo's awesome! I hope he comes back too.
I'm expecting Dry Bones and Dry Bowser to return as well.
But I really hope Cranky Kong makes an appearance! Seeing as how he'll be a playable character in DK: Tropical Freeze, it would make since.

Uh? I went to Gamestop and MK8 is on there pre - order/upcoming list for 3DS and Wii-U. I believe in March or May? I know how to read and have great vision.... I looked at the list they had for about 10 minutes.

I don't trust Gamestop's lists anymore.
The list I got from them a couple months ago had these mistakes:
- they were 1-2 weeks off of the actual release of Mario/Sonic Olympics
- a week off - Zelda: A Link between Worlds
- Wind Waker HD & Pokémon XY on same release weekend?
- and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze set for Dec. something-teen?

You probably saw it correctly, but Nintendo has only announced it for Wii U so far.
And I don't expect them to announce a 3DS version because if they were, they would have revealed it just like with Super Smash Bros.

Looks like I was sapped then :( no MK8 for me until I get a Wii-U.. I have the xbox... must save up again.. lol...

In some recent news this weekend, we got a little glimpse of a new arena for the upcoming Super Smash Bros 3DS. The arena is based on Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 7.

Um... none of those characters you posted under New Characters are new to the series. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi first appeared in Double Dash, while Baby Peach, Baby Daisy and Rosalina all appeared in Mario Kart Wii.

Racing SNES Rainbow Road in MK7 is always a bit tense. Being hit by that Thwomp right in the last leg of the race, ooh!

MK8 looks cool. I hear the anti-gravity stuff doesn't really have a big effect when your camera is always fixed while driving, but in general it looks neat. Airports, man!
 
Heh, thread is funny because I've been playing Mario Kart Wii for the past few days. The only other MK game I played a lot of was Double Dash (did a bit of SNES, N64, and DS, but not a lot), so it's been a lot of fun playing and getting back into it again. I'll likely pick this up when I get around to buying a Wii U; there's nothing released for that system yet that I want enough to buy it, but I do hope to get one at some point this year regardless.

Also, anyone else think character weights should be more than just Kart sizes?

In the latest Nintendo Direct today, a new trailer, new playable characters, and the official release date were revealed! Here's Nintendo's newest trailer.
New playable characters: All seven of Bowser's Koopalings (listed in the op)
Official Release Date: May 30th, 2014! (NA & EU)
 
I've got the Playstation and X Box; I'm only missing a Wii U. When I'm back in the Netherlands I'll get one and MK8 is definitely one of the games I'm getting. So far I've only played Mario Kart on the handheld console. I always enjoyed playing it with my cousins a lot! I'm looking forward to playing the game on the Wii U as well. :D

If Japanese consoles were compatible with European games I would have considered buying one here and bringing it home with me. :p

I'm not sure if I'm getting the 3DS version, since I already have another version for my handheld to play with.

I haven't played any demos yet. Is there a demo available on the 3DS?

Edit: The trailer looks great!! *gets excited*

It has only been announced for the Wii U.
And no, there isn't a demo... yet. :(
 
Yeah, I don't think this one will be coming out on the 3DS. In the past, Mario Kart games have always gotten an "either or" treatment (handheld or console, not the same game for both), and the trailer does say, only for Wii U. Kind of wish it was coming out on the 3DS, too, but oh well, I'll be picking up a Wii U for this and SSB anyway. :p
