Major DS problem

Not sure if it is the right place but here is the major problem My DS with the broken hinge no longer turns on all the way. When it does there is a white flash then it blacks out and somehow it disconnects itself. How in the world does this get fixed? The right hinge has been broke since January this year and now the casing holding the plastic piece with the metal end no longer holds it very well. Thw bread ties were working until today when one of them somehow got stuck. After I got it off the right side disconnected somehow and bent the plastic part that did hold the hinge good enough. After I got it back in it worked for another 2-3 hours then suddenly it just stopped working.

I do have the DS registered on my Nintendo account however I don't know if registered units can be fixed for free. Right now I can no longer transfer data and I will not even be able to transfer to B/W when I get it which I was looking forward to doing. Now that is out the window. If anyone has any good suggestions please post. Thanks. XD.:)

I don't really know of any way to fix that, Nintendo may be able to fix it, but it'll cost more than it's worth.

It may be time to upgrade your DS to something newer.

I've never heard of anything like this before. :O

I think it might be time to get a newer DS; it sounds like yours has been through a lot.

There's no way to solve that without a repair. It'll run you about $80 for a full repair, which is near the cost of a new DS Lite.

This^^

Buy a new one, if you don't have much money go to CEX - Game Exchange. Oh... do you live in the US of A?...

Wow, it does sound like it's been through a lot. I would contact nintendo support and see what they say. When my the left shoulder on my ds lite stop working, I sent it to NoA and they fixed it and put in a new touch screen free of charge. But your problem is pretty bad though and it might cost you something, so it might be time to get a new ds.

Aw crud. I have another DS and it works perfectly fine but without the 2nd one it will be much harder to transfer data and also get all my daily events done. Wow. I guess it is bad then What about DS's that are already registered with Ninetndo? My DS is registered online. Shouldn't that warrant a free repair if it is a registered system? Thanks.:)

No, registering your system online only gives you an extended warranty (Around 3 months more). And also, I dont think this would be covered by warranty either, if its still not expired, because warranty only covers manufacturing faults, and hinge problems are usually consumer induced, leaving it uncovered by the warranty.

Great. I have had it for 3+ years and when my cat pushed it off onto the plugin on the floor she cracked the casing and it slowly started falling off. It was pretty much ok until the read tie got caught on that piece yesterday and pulled it all the way out. I tried carefully to remove it but it would not come off unless the piece went with it.:(

And that'd mean you have to repair your DS. Wow, that has never happened to my DSi before. Maybe you can repair it, but that costs more than your average DSi.... Sorry, it's DS, not DSi. I've only had my DSi for a year or two. How many years old is your DS?

EDIT: Ninja'd.

First off, you'll want to sell it to Gamestop (they usually don't check to see that it works). You'll get some $$$ that way. Buy a new DS (like Chariblaze said, a DS Lite is around $80 now).

Continue as if nothing happened :>

I want a DSI XL though but that is around $150.00 and that we do not have.:(

I wanted a XL too, but I got my DSi before the new XL DSi came around. :(

Maybe you could trade your DS for a DSi or.... 3DS! I kinda wish I could trade my DSi, but I've had it for like 3 or 2 years.... :(

It is broken and does not work. I can't do that.:(

That's sad.... Ask them when repairs for a DS is going to be on sale, just to avoid wasting your money if nothing's wrong. Or maybe you can check your DS manual included when you first got it. If that doesn't work, maybe you can do maybe other people suggest. If that doesn't work, there's nothing you can do. :(

Yeah I will just have to wait and see if I can get a new or even a used one or something. Thanks guys.:)

I had almost that exact problem except it was the left hinge. Unfortunately for you, the right hinge is what connects the two screens so you will probably have to buy a new one.

Aw crud. That's not good.:( Thanks anyway guys but I will have to wait on that one XD.:)
