When I attach it on the bench then move it to my active Pokemon does it still stay attached? my friend said it doesnt but nothing on the card states that it has to be discarded.

that's because it isn't discarded...if it doesn't say anything on the card about discarding when the pokemon it's attached is made active, then there is no discard that happens

You're right. Bench Shield only WORKS on the bench, but that doesn't mean you lose it upon becoming active. It merely becomes inactive.

Unown G is quite fundamentally different from Bench Shield. Unown G works in both the active and benched position, and prevents all non-damage effects, including Statuses, damage counters, and effects like Machamp's Take Out on basic Pokemon. Bench Shield simply prevents all direct damage done to a Pokemon on the bench, so while it will protect you from stuff like Flygon X's Extreme Attack, it will not protect against damage counters and other effects such as, say, being brought up due to Blaziken FB's Luring Flame that Unown G would have prevented.

Umm... no, it isn't. Unown G prevents all effects of attacks, while Bench Shield prevents damage done to benched Pokemon. It's quite a huge difference, actually. For example, that means that Unown G prevents special conditions and damage counter effects, while bench shield only prevents damage done to benched Pokemon, kind of like the second attack of Empoleon PL.

Edit: I haz been ninja'd. :O
