Looking to build competitive deck

I'm trying to get back into the Pokemon tcg, and since all my cards have rotated, I'm basically starting from scratch and don't have a very clear idea where to begin. I'd like advice on building a competitive deck in the current metagame. I'm planning on building the deck gradually based on when I can put together income, and am not really concerned about price barring, like, Tropical Beach.

I'd like to use Klinklang, but don't really know where to go from there. I've been looking around the internet, but I'm having trouble finding official type decklists and am hesitant to go about copying decklists from forum posts and the like without being involved in the discussion that leads to the creation of the list.

Anyway, I know that's pretty vague, but I don't know if there's a pretty standard skeleton list or what and don't want to write out a decklist without knowing more of what's good or what I'm doing.

Definitely check out our Metagame Deck Forum out for general strategy and such. There's a specific Plasma Klinklang thread in there as well. There's most likely some rough lists in there (as well as general advice for specific cards in the deck) that can at least get you started on constructing and testing further will allow you to make changes as you see fit

dmaster out.

Klinklang is a viable deck but it's very tricky to build and play, and is very risky (it works when people don't expect it, but it can be countered so if you don't know your metagame it can be a bad choice). It's a deck you can try, but it's tricky to start out with. I'd personally suggest a simpler/more straightforward deck to play initially. Eels variants can be tricky, but they're fun to play, Darkrai's a great and straightforward deck, and big basics are amazing. Even Blastoise can be an easy play to try if you have a consistent list to start.

That's good to know. My background is in mtg and I was attracted to the deck because I favor decks in magic that require set up time and have strong inevitability in the late game. Klinklang seemed attractive in that vein because of the defensive potential of plasma steel. But perhaps Blastoise is a better option in that vein.

In any case, forging forward, I went to the metagame thread and scanned it for good information and came up with a preliminary list which I'm sure is full of problems but I'll post it here and hopefully get some feedback.

Pokemon (14)
3 Klinklang (PS 90)
1 Klinklang (BW 76)
4 Klink (DE 75)
2 Cobalion EX (PS 133)
2 Registeel EX (DR 122)
2 Mewtwo EX (ND 98)

Trainer/Supporter (32)

4 N (NV 101)
4 Professor Juniper (DE 98)
3 Skyla (BC 149)
3 Bianca (BC 147)
3 Heavy Ball (ND 88)
4 Pokemon Catcher (EP 95)
4 Rare Candy (DE 100)
4 Switch (BW 104)
1 Computer Search (BC 137)
2 Colress (PS 118)

Energy (14)

4 Double Colorless Energy (ND 92)
10 Metal Energy (BW 112)

Off the bat I'm not sure about Registeel/Mewtwo EX and the Double Colorless energy, and energy count in general, but as I've said I'm new and based this on a skeleton posted in the thread.
